Maintains and updates the electronic parking meter management software systems. Assists in the design of the system's database structures; assists in the organizational development of parking services and reports on data. Maintains cities Master Meter Inventory and Parking Space Inventory.

In accordance with Article 24 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769, for posting purposes this open-competitive job posting shall be considered as a simultaneous internal and external posting (it is open to both internal City employees and external applicants).
Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.   • Administers and maintains a variety of parking technology platforms and internally developed departmental applications; manages system configurations, user accounts, and access permissions for a user under the direction of management.

  • Diagnoses and resolves application issues in cooperation with platform vendors and software suppliers; escalates unresolved issues to senior staff as appropriate; coordinates routine updates, parking rate changes, and special event parking rate configurations

  • Researches data to find the most efficient productive method in the applications of parking meter operations; provides reports on various collected data

  • Maintains accurate records of system configurations, device inventory, user assignments, and parking space data across multiple platforms

  • Utilizes analytical data for field operations to conduct survey of all City owned and maintained parking areas; maps all general parking spaces to conform to the City GIS
  • Assists the City's Information Technology staff with the development and deployment of the Geographical Information System database that provides on-line, real time data regarding meter types, locations of all on-street, lots and garage locations, meter maintenance histories and other tools
  • Provides weekend revenue and fuel report for parking services
  • Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions on field IoT devices, iPads, and iPhones used in parking operations; captures and documents data collected from affected devices
  • Develops a preventative maintenance program for the department's parking meters to reduce time and improve customer satisfaction
  • May perform assignments in the installation, repair and maintenance of parking meter equipment
  • Applies rate changes and special event rates on each platform, and communicates with meter manufacturers and mobile payment vendors as needed
  • Organizes and maintains documentation of meter and payment location changes, including device relocations, on a GIS platform
  • Communicates with Customer Service Personnel on meter malfunctions, payment information and other related issues
  • Communicates any new rate changes to staff, ensuring the team remains informed and aligned
  • Performs related work as required
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
  1. Associate's Degree in a related field.
  2. Must possess at least one (1) year of experience in the operation, maintenance, and updating of parking meter management software systems.  Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience or education.
  3. A valid State of Florida Driver's license with an acceptable driving record within 30 days of hire.
  4. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of Geographical Information System (GIS), mechanical and electronic parking equipment, and Mobile payment systems.

As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The position involves medium physical demands, such as exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, walk, push, pull, grasp, stand and access heights or areas where limited space is available. May perform occasional outside work for site visits.
