Department
You will be part of the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions and mining team. By joining this team, you will have the chance to work in a multinational organization and in an environment involving different cultures and different challenges.
Responsibilities and Duties
Manufacturing and Engineering Operations:
- Set up, adjust, operate, repair, and maintain metalworking machines and equipment.
- Operate machinery to manufacture components through turning, boring, milling, planning, shaping, slotting, grinding, and drilling processes.
- Set up, repair, and maintain polyurethane (PU) moulds for production purposes.
- Operate hand tools, machine tools, and welding equipment as required.
- CNC and Conventional machining qualification an advantage.
- Fit and assemble metal parts, tools, and sub-assemblies, including welding and brazing activities.
- Dismantle faulty tools and assemblies and repair or replace defective components.
- Cut, thread, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.
- Safely use gas cutting equipment and identify appropriate gas types for specific applications.
- Regularly inspect equipment and perform preventative maintenance to ensure operational reliability.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions to determine job requirements, materials, and equipment needs.
- Inspect and verify the accuracy and quality of finished components, tools, and assemblies using measuring instruments such as verniers, measuring tapes, rulers and micrometers. Work within tight tolerances.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality control procedures, and product specifications.
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act), SHEQ requirements, and company policies and procedures.
Inventory and Asset Management:
- Maintain procedures for the receipt, handling, storage, internal transfer, shipping, and scrapping of spares, consumables, customer materials, and assembled equipment.
- Maintain effective inventory control and material workflow systems to ensure traceability and accurate record keeping.
- Support and participate in stocktaking activities.
- Ensure effective control and accountability of tools and equipment used within the facility.
- Ensure all spares, tools, consumables, and equipment are stored safely, securely, and in an organised manner.
- Prevent, monitor, and report loss, theft, or damage of tools, equipment, and consumables.
Equipment Operation and Safety:
- Operate mechanically driven equipment, including but not limited to forklifts, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, and overhead cranes.
- Ensure safe stacking, handling, and storage of materials, stock, and equipment in accordance with HSE requirements.
- Promote and maintain a culture of personal and team safety at all times.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards to ensure a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
Knowledge:
- Sound knowledge of engineering principles and fitting practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- Knowledge of metalworking processes, machining techniques, and fabrication methods.
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of welding, brazing, and gas cutting processes.
- Understanding of preventative maintenance principles and equipment care.
- Knowledge of inventory control, material handling, and asset management processes.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and SHEQ Management Systems (ISO 45001/OHS standards).
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation and safe work practices.
Skills and Experience:
- Valid Section 13 Fitter Trade Test Certificate.
- Valid licence and/or competency certification for operating lifting equipment and material handling equipment will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant engineering, manufacturing, or precision engineering environment.
- Experience working with metalworking machinery, tooling, and equipment maintenance.
- Experience in inventory control, stores management, and material handling processes.
