Student Worker - Admissions Social Media & Content Creation Ambassador (Work-Study or Non-Work Study)Job Description:
The Social Media & Content Creation Ambassador supports the Admissions Office’s digital presence by creating engaging visual and written content for Instagram and parent-facing Facebook pages. This role is ideal for a creative, detail-oriented student with an interest in social media, graphic design, and storytelling. The student will attend campus events, capture photos and videos, and design collateral that highlights the student experience and key campus moments.Key Responsibilities
- Create engaging social media content (graphics, photos, videos, reels, and captions) for Instagram and parent Facebook pages
- Attend campus events to capture real-time and post-event content (photo/video)
- Design social media graphics and digital collateral using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms
- Assist with content planning and brainstorming ideas aligned with office goals and brand guidelines
- Draft captions and help tailor messaging for different audiences (students vs. parents)
- Organize and manage digital assets (photos, videos, templates)
- Ensure content reflects the institution’s brand, tone, and values
- Complete weekly in-office hours for planning, editing, and collaboration
- Willingness to attend events during evenings or weekends as needed (within allotted hours)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating content for social media platforms, especially Instagram and Facebook
- Graphic design experience (Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Illustrator, or InDesign a plus)
- Strong visual storytelling skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable taking photos and videos on a smartphone or camera
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Interest in marketing, communications, graphic design, or a related field
- Familiarity with trends in social media content (reels, stories, short-form video)
Salary and Hours
- Students are paid the current minimum wage for Maryland.
- Students will work a total of eight (8) hours per week as noted below:
- 4 hours per week in-office
- 4 hours per week attending campus events and capturing content
