Abercrombie & Kent’s Cruise division, Akorn Destination Management, is a specialised division offering first class services in shore excursions, extended land programs and turnaround services to the cruise industry.  Our teams are committed to service and dedicated to clients; provide local insight and practical knowledge that is enhanced by global expertise and presence. 

The role

The Cruise Operations Coordinator is responsible for the provision of administration and operational support for our Shore excursions, Turnaround and Land Programme teams and assists in the creation of truly inspirational travel experiences.

This opportunity is a great entry-level role and stepping stone into the travel and cruising industry and would suit anyone looking to build a career in the travel and cruising industry.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate administrative support across all teams

  • Assist the Cruise Account Managers and remote teams in dealing with last minute questions and adjustments before and on a cruise ship call day

  • Provide accurate reconfirmation and documentation

  • Coordinate the rostering & reconfirmation of guides for shore excursions

  • Accurately load quotations and booking into inhouse reservations systems

  • Accurate recording and organisation of team correspondence

  • Provide assistance and support on the Pier on ship days as required

  • Develop and maintain an excellent relationship with suppliers

  • Assist in other areas of the business if and when required

  • Assist the sustainability coordinator/team in reporting and maintain certification status

  • Ad hoc tasks as required by management
     

The successful applicant will have:

  • Previous experience in an administration role

  • Previous experience in a customer service role

  • Experience working in the cruise or travel industry would be considered an advantage

  • Previous experience preparing itineraries or quote proposals would be an advantage

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)

  • Experience in using an in-house travel system would be considered an advantage (Travel Studio preferred)

  • High attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Ability to prioritise & work in a demanding environment

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • Commitment to the highest level of customer service

  • Full-time role five days a week which could include weekend days and public holidays. During the high cruise season
