Position Summary
We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, and creative Activities Assistant to help provide engaging programs that enhance the physical, emotional, social, and mental well-being of our residents. Working closely with the Activities Director, you'll help create meaningful experiences that encourage participation, socialization, and enjoyment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and conducting individual, small-group, and large-group activities
- Encourage resident participation in activities, hobbies, crafts, games, and special events
- Assist with resident outings and special programs
- Help develop and maintain monthly activity calendars and attendance records
- Support the development and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments
- Assist with assessment documentation and quarterly progress notes as assigned
- Participate in discharge planning and interdisciplinary care team meetings as needed
- Arrange or assist with resident transportation for activities, appointments, and outings when necessary
- Provide in-room activities for residents who are bed-bound or unable to attend group programs
- Maintain positive communication with residents, families, staff, and visitors
- Help keep the Activities Department clean, organized, and secure
- Support facility quality improvement initiatives as requested by the Activities Director
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- One year of experience in a long-term care, healthcare, senior living, recreation, or activities setting preferred
- Experience working with seniors is a plus
