Job Description:

The intramural sports official position is responsible for officiating intramural league and tournament games. The intramural sports staff provides excellent customer service to participants in the intramural sports program and aids in delivering an enjoyable, inclusive experience for the Mount Community.

Job Duties

• Be available to work most weeknights and occasional weekends.
• Demonstrate a passion for sports, recreation, and working with diverse groups of people.
• Communicate effectively and professionally while working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and personalities.
• Officiate a variety of intramural sports, including basketball, flag football, soccer, volleyball, and other sports or special events as assigned.
• Ensure a safe and enjoyable playing environment by applying sport-specific rules, departmental policies, and proper game management techniques.
• Provide outstanding customer service by communicating clearly, treating all participants with respect, and fostering a positive game experience.
• Attend Intramural Sports officials' training sessions and remain current on sport-specific rules, mechanics, and officiating procedures.
• Serve as a positive ambassador for the Intramural Sports program by promoting sportsmanship, inclusivity, and participant engagement.
• Assist with the setup, operation, and cleanup of intramural games, leagues, tournaments, and special events.
• Support the promotion and marketing of Intramural Sports leagues, tournaments, and special events through outreach and participant engagement.
• Handle conflicts and difficult situations professionally, using sound judgment and effective conflict resolution skills.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Intramural Sports professional staff.

Salary and Hours

• Students are paid the current minimum wage for Maryland.
• Students will work a total of eight (8) hours per week.
