Description

The Associate Dean for Strategic Partnerships and Healthcare Workforce Development serves as a senior member of the College for Healthy Communities leadership team and provides executive leadership for the College’s regional partnership strategy across California’s Central Coast. Working collaboratively with academic leaders and external partners, the Associate Dean leads implementation of the CHC Regional Healthcare Education and Workforce Partnership Framework by developing strategic partnerships, educational pathways, workforce collaborations, employer engagement initiatives, and externally funded projects that strengthen the regional healthcare workforce while advancing the College’s educational mission. The Associate Dean collaborates with, but does not supervise, academic programs or admissions.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Partnership Development: Develop executive-level partnerships with healthcare organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, philanthropic organizations, professional associations, and community organizations.
  • Educational Pathway Development: Lead K–12, community college, university, admissions, and employer-supported pathway initiatives.
  • Healthcare Workforce Development: Collaborate with healthcare partners to strengthen clinical education, workforce planning, graduate recruitment, continuing education, and professional development.
  • Strategic Initiatives and Program Development: Lead strategic initiatives, workforce assessments, grant activities, and support new academic program development.
  • Assessment and Continuous Improvement: Develop and report measures of partnership performance and workforce impact.
  • Leadership and Service: Serve on the Dean’s leadership team and represent the College internally and externally.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, higher education, public administration, or a related field. 
  • Minimum seven years of progressively responsible leadership experience. 
  • Demonstrated success developing strategic partnerships. 
  • Experience leading cross-sector initiatives. 
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned terminal degree (e.g., EdD, PhD, DHA, DBA, or equivalent). 
  • Executive leadership experience in healthcare or higher education.
  • Knowledge of California healthcare workforce issues.
  • Grant development and management experience.
  • Familiarity with accreditation, academic governance, and health professions education.

  • Strategic leadership, partnership development, systems thinking, organizational leadership, project management, consensus building, negotiation, public speaking, political acumen, and data-informed decision making.
