What you'll be doing
Enterprise Data and Records supports the consistent and effective management of data and records across CIBC. As a strategic advisor on the team, you'll provide consultative support to business and technology partners to help them align with enterprise governance expectations. You'll guide teams in interpreting standards, assessing options, and shaping practical approaches across people, processes, and technology. You'll influence the design of business and technology solutions by helping partners identify gaps, understand available options, demonstrate alignment, and determine where alternate processes or risk mitigation may be appropriate. You'll also support the use of enterprise platforms, including scenarios where business needs extend beyond out-of-the-box capabilities. Working with partners across the business, technology, architecture, and vendor communities, you'll help advance scalable, sustainable solutions and contribute to automation initiatives, including artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled capabilities that improve how standards are understood, applied, and evidenced across the enterprise.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you'll succeed
- Lead with partnership - Create a collaborative work environment by acting as a trusted partner and role model. Contribute to the team's advisory capabilities through sound judgment, professionalism, and a strong focus on shared outcomes.
- Collaborate across teams - Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Privacy, and operational delivery teams. Use clear communication and influence to help partners navigate competing priorities and align on practical next steps.
- Provide practical advisory support - Translate enterprise data and records requirements into clear, business-relevant guidance. Help stakeholders understand how requirements apply in different contexts, what options are available, and what evidence is needed to demonstrate alignment.
- Assess and guide solutions - Review business-submitted documentation to identify gaps, clarify ambiguities, and recommend improvements. Advise on alternate processes, risk mitigation approaches, and solution considerations that support outcomes such as classification, metadata capture, retention, disposition, auditability, preservation, retrieval, and control evidence.
- Drive continuous improvement - Identify opportunities to simplify and automate advisory processes, including through AI-enabled and digital capabilities. Apply strong agile delivery practices across advisory and improvement initiatives while proactively managing execution risk.
Who you are
- You have 5+ years of progressive experience in advisory, consulting, data management, technology enablement, or a related field. You know how to help business and technology partners navigate complex requirements and make informed decisions. You're a trusted advisor and technically fluent. You bring a strong understanding of data, architecture, and technology practices and principles. You're comfortable discussing concepts such as classification, metadata, lifecycle management, auditability, preservation, repositories, and control evidence.
- Your influence makes a difference. You're a strong communicator and relationship builder. You can translate complex standards and documentation into practical, business-friendly guidance. You build trust quickly, influence without direct authority, and work effectively across business, technology, architecture, and supplier groups.
- You know that details matter. You're analytically strong and delivery-minded. You can assess documentation, evaluate trade-offs, identify gaps, and recommend practical next steps. You also bring strong planning, coordination, issue resolution, and execution tracking skills, with experience working in agile or hybrid delivery environments.
- You have a degree or diploma in Business, Data Management, Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant data-focused certifications and experience with enterprise content management or records management platforms are considered assets.
- Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
