Overview
Our client is looking for a System Specialist with solid hands‑on experience in enterprise backup solutions, database support and Windows server troubleshooting. This is a technical, hands‑on role supporting mission‑critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, manage and maintain enterprise backup systems (Cohesity and/or Veritas NetBackup).
- Perform backup policy configuration, scheduling, monitoring, and tuning to ensure successful backups and restores.
- Handle Bare Metal Recovery (BMR) backup configuration, testing and execution for critical servers.
- Troubleshoot backup failures, performance issues and capacity problems, and provide root‑cause analysis and permanent fixes.
- Administer and support Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server databases from a backup and recovery perspective.
- Support and troubleshoot Windows Server environments, including OS‑level issues, services, and integration with backup agents.
- Maintain technical documentation for backup configuration, procedures and recovery plans.
- Work closely with application, database and infrastructure teams to ensure end‑to‑end data protection and recovery readiness.
- Participate in on‑call / incident support as required and contribute to continuous improvement of backup processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience in system administration or infrastructure support, with strong focus on backup systems.
- Hands‑on experience with Cohesity or Veritas NetBackup (experience with both is an advantage).
- Solid understanding and practical experience in BMR backup and restore for Windows servers.
- Good knowledge of Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server from a backup/recovery and maintenance perspective.
- Strong Windows Server troubleshooting skills (services, performance, event logs, patching, integration with backup tools).
- Familiar with backup concepts such as retention, RPO/RTO, deduplication, replication, and off‑site/DR strategy.
- Able to communicate clearly in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese).
- Detail‑minded, responsible, and able to work independently as well as in a team.
