The Assistant Manager, Radiology with Radiology leadership, physicians, technologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary leaders to support the daily operations of inpatient and outpatient imaging services. Assists with operational oversight, quality improvement, workforce management, patient experience initiatives, regulatory readiness, and employee development while serving as a clinical and operational resource to department staff.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Radiology Manager in the daily oversight and coordination of departmental operations to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered imaging services.

  • Serves as a clinical, technical, and operational resource to technologists, support staff, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for daily operational activities, including staffing coordination, workflow management, throughput optimization, and service recovery.

  • Coordinates daily staffing assignments and assists with scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage across shifts and imaging modalities.

  • Participates in recruitment, onboarding, orientation, retention, mentoring, and recognition of department personnel.

  • Assists with staff coaching, performance evaluations, competency validation, and corrective action processes in collaboration with the Radiology Manager.

  • Promotes employee engagement and professional development through education, mentorship, continuing education opportunities, and succession planning.

  • Facilitates department meetings, huddles, educational programs, and communication initiatives.

  • Supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of departmental policies, procedures, and workflow standards.

  • Assists with regulatory compliance and accreditation readiness related to Joint Commission, ACR, NRC, state regulatory agencies, and other applicable governing bodies.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting for a total of 5 hours per day in up to 2-hour increments.  Standing for 1 hour per day in 15-minute increments.  Walking 2 hours per day in 10-minute increments.  Occasional dexterity of the hands.  Rarely lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.  Occasional stooping and bending.  Rarely squatting, crouching or reaching above shoulder level.  Feeling as it relates to touching.  Hearing as it relates to normal conversation.  Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, far vision and color vision.

EDUCATION:

Registry or licensure as a health care professional with Radiology credentials and/or working knowledge/experience in the functionality of a medical imaging department. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

3 years’ experience as a staff technologist preferred.  Has demonstrated leadership, communication, operational and team development skills.
