Job SummaryThe Consultant Sports Medicine Physician is responsible for providing specialized diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions for athletes and physically active individuals. The role focuses on injury prevention, performance optimization, non-surgical management, return-to-play assessments, and multidisciplinary collaboration to deliver world-class patient care.Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and manage sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions through comprehensive clinical assessment, functional evaluation, and fitness-for-sport screening.Develop and oversee individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans, including return-to-play decisions and concussion management.Perform sports medicine procedures such as injections and ultrasound-guided interventions where indicated.Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care while ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety standards.Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, radiologists, nutritionists, and sports scientists for integrated patient care.Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.Educate athletes, coaches, and healthcare professionals on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimization.Engage in research, audits, continuing medical education, and mentorship of junior medical and allied health staff.QualificationsMedical Degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.Completion of approved residency training.Fellowship or Board Certification in Sports Medicine, Sport & Exercise Medicine, Family Medicine with Sports Medicine Fellowship, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation with Sports Medicine specialization, or equivalent.ExperienceMinimum 5 years of post-board/fellowship experience as a Consultant in Sports Medicine.Experience managing elite athletes, professional sports teams, and active populations is preferred.Expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound and image-guided procedures is highly desirable.Eligibility for Consultant licensure with the Qatar healthcare regulatory authority.Valid professional registration and good standing certificate.Skills & CompetenciesAdvanced knowledge of sports injuries and musculoskeletal medicine.Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.Expertise in rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.Leadership, teaching, and mentoring capabilities.Commitment to clinical excellence, research, and continuous professional development.
