About the Role
As a Product Specialist, you will be the lead technical authority for new machine preparation, supporting engineers with complex diagnostics, software integration, commissioning activities, and root cause investigations. Working closely with Product Managers, Technical Support teams, and preparation engineers, you will play a key role in enhancing machine reliability, improving preparation processes, and ensuring machines are configured correctly before customer handover.

What You'll Be Doing
- Acting as the primary technical specialist within the New Machine Preparation Centre, providing expert diagnostic support and engineering guidance.
- Supporting engineers with advanced fault finding across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and software-controlled systems.
- Leading investigations into complex, repetitive, or escalated technical issues, ensuring robust root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Producing detailed technical reports, engineering feedback, and OEM submissions to support continuous product and process improvement.
- Working closely with the Technical Support Team and Product Managers to resolve technical concerns and maintain compliance with OEM standards.
- Ensuring machines are correctly configured, commissioned, and updated in line with the latest technical bulletins and software releases.
- Identifying training needs within the preparation team and delivering both formal and informal technical coaching to improve competency and capability.
- Supporting technical modifications, accessory installations, system integration activities, and preparation-related documentation.
- Contributing to continuous improvement by feeding diagnostic findings into quality, engineering, and preparation processes.
- Building strong working relationships across Sales, Service, Product Management, and Technical teams to support operational success.
What You'll Need
We're looking for a highly skilled technical professional with extensive knowledge of the Volvo Construction Equipment product range and the wider construction industry.
You will have advanced diagnostic capability across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic and CAN-bus systems, along with experience using OEM diagnostic software and machine configuration tools.
You'll be confident interpreting technical schematics, wiring diagrams, hydraulic circuits and software configurations, while producing clear and concise reports for engineering, product management and OEM stakeholders.
- Strong technical expertise with the ability to diagnose complex faults and understand system behaviour at a deep level.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Service and Technical teams.
- A proactive, analytical and collaborative approach, with a focus on improving machine reliability, reducing repeat failures and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple technical priorities while remaining calm under pressure and delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Full UK Driving Licence and flexibility to travel, work away from home when required, attend training in the UK and overseas, and work occasional weekends or overnight stays to meet business needs.
