It focuses on the balance between on-site experience, technical design, and academic study toward a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Building Services EngineeringThe Apprentice Building Services Engineer will support the Project Delivery team in the successful installation, commissioning, and handover of mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) systems. You will gain hands-on experience across a diverse portfolio of sites while applying the theoretical engineering principles learned during your HNC studies.The role provides a balance of:On-site practical experienceExposure to technical design and coordinationAcademic study towards a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Building Services EngineeringThe apprentice will attend college on a day-release basis and apply theoretical learning to real project environments and the typical entry requirements for this are:Typically 64 UCAS points (or equivalent)Minimum Grade B / Grade 5 in MathsSKILLSStrong verbal and written skills for interacting with site teams, clients and academic tutorsGood organisational and time management abilitiesProactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiativeBasic IT skills (Excel, Word, project tools)Health & Safety – (Training Provided)Manual Handling.Asbestos awareness.Working at Height.General Site Safety Practices.OTHERWillingness to travel to multiple project sites across London and the South EastFlexibility to occasionally work outside normal hours to observe key activities (e.g. commissioning, shutdown works)Commitment to balancing work, study, and independent learningDUTIESTechnical & Site SupportAssist with the installation and coordination of MEP services on siteSupport site inspections, snagging, and quality assurance processesLearn to review drawings, specifications, and technical submittalsProject Delivery SupportAssist Project Managers with planning and coordination of worksMonitor progress of subcontractors and report on site activitiesSupport commissioning activities and system testingAssist in preparing handover documentation including O&M manualsCompliance & Standards learn & applyBuilding RegulationsBritish Standards and industry guidance (e.g. CIBSE/BSRIA)Company quality and safety proceduresLearning & DevelopmentActively participate in HNC study and apply learning to project workDevelop understanding of: HVAC systems / Electrical services / Public health systemsWork towards professional development and accreditation pathwaysCareer pathwayBuilding Services EngineerSenior EngineerProject Engineer / Project ManagerSee full job description for more information
