Primary Role
As the Mechanical Lead Engineer, this role will serve as the primary owner's representative for mechanical equipment and piping aspects of Solenis major chemical capital projects as well as plants support for the discipline's trouble-shooting if necessary. This role will ensure that the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of and mechanical equipment and piping systems, including reactors, vessels, agitators/mixers, filling lines, and especially for packaging facilities of liquids and powders, align with company's process technologies, operational requirements, and the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Accountabilities
Mechanical Discipline Design Management: (40%)
- Act as the primary owner's expert and technical interface on mechanical and piping engineering design, defining design criteria and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Review and approve key deliverables from the engineering contractor as well as vendors, including equipment datasheets, material specifications, piping design, and vendor prints.
- Ensure mechanical designs incorporate company's process technology requirements and engineering best practices.
- Drive value engineering initiatives to optimize and balance capex cost and operation cost without compromising equipment integrity.
- Specialized Equipment Expertise: In-depth knowledge of equipment selection and design, particularly for drum/bag fillings, powder tablet pressing/packaging equipment used in paper chemicals, cleaning agents, and disinfectants manufacturing.
Procurement & Construction Support: (30%)
- Participate in vendor selection and technical bid evaluation for mechanical equipment and piping materials.
- Participate in vendor fabrication, quality inspection and test according to defined ITP plan, to ensure mechanical equipment fabrication quality.
- Review construction schemes, supervise field installation, and ensure equipment and piping fabrication &installation meet quality control requirements.
- Manage punch list process and support facility handover to operations.
Commissioning & Start-up Support: (15%)
- Support mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities for piping systems and mechanical equipment.
- Provide expert troubleshooting during plant start-up and performance testing to ensure design parameters are achieved.
- Prepare or collect project documentation for archive to operation (e.g., as-built drawings, O&M manuals).
Plant Support: (15%)
- Support plants for mechanical equipment trouble shooting and optimization.
- Provide mechanical equipment maintenance expertise knowledge to each sites maintenance team.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Machinery, or related fields
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of mechanical engineering experience within the chemical process industry
- Especially for drum/bag filling machine, powder handling facilities, rotating & mixing equipment engineering and maintenance experience.
- Knowledge: Expert-level knowledge of mechanical engineering (packaging equipment, rotating & mixing equipment).
- In-depth understanding of mechanical engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, GB, HG, SH, JB, etc.).
- Good English command in listening, speaking, reading and writing, capable to organize technical discussion meeting with global mechanical experts.
- Travel Requirements : 70% travel requirement during project execution period, including to the engineering contractor's office, vendor's workshop, and project installation site during key phases.
