Team Description

At Capital One India, we are at the cutting edge of solving some of the fundamental business problems using advanced data methodologies, statistics and machine learning algorithms.

The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team is on a journey to modernize the way Capital One identifies potential money laundering, terrorist financing, and human trafficking through the use of advanced analytic techniques, statistics, and machine learning models. Our team develops data sourcing, predictive models, products, monitoring, and reporting using tools such as AWS, Snowflake, Python, and Spark. 

As the team responsible for building AML products, we are responsible for understanding user needs, conducting business analyses and finding the right things to build in a product, develop and maintain.

Our mission is to empower data-driven decision-making, foster innovation without limits, and make Capital One’s AML program pre-eminent.

Role Description

General responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Strategic leadership: Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands.
• Execution & Product delivery: Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements and execute against the product strategy. Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently.
• Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: Tech, Model Risk, Lines of Business, and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitability.
• Strategic & analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, and understanding of Statistical / ML models.
• Leadership: May manage and develop analysts. Coaching and mentoring associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One.
• Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: He/she should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business.
• Strong executive communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials. Communicate technical subject matter clearly and concisely to individuals from various backgrounds both verbally and through written communication; prepare presentations of complex technical concepts and research results to non-specialist audiences and senior management.
• Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. He/she should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment.
• Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Math, Engineering, Economics, Econometrics, Finance, or Operations Research).
• At least 4 years of professional work experience in analytics, business analysis, or data-driven product management.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in the financial services industry, specifically dealing with cross-LOB operations or customer experience.
• Proven experience translating high-level business strategy and advanced analytics into tangible products and actionable outcomes.
• 3+ years of experience with Python, R, SQL, and relational databases.
• Proficiency in key econometric and statistical techniques, model design, development, and deployment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in Fraud / Anti-money Laundering domain.
