Welding Operations Manager – Job Order

The Welding Operations Manager oversees and optimizes all welding activities for heavy pipe operations. This role ensures safe, efficient, and code‑compliant welding while leading teams, enforcing quality standards, and improving productivity and weld integrity. 

Schedule -Monday -Friday 6am -6pm weekends too 

Key Responsibilities

  • Welding Operations Oversight — Supervise daily welding activities in shop and field; ensure work follows WPS and qualified welder performance; manage heat input, preheat/PWHT, and distortion control.
  • Planning & Execution — Plan manpower, equipment, consumables, and logistics; coordinate priorities with project teams; track KPIs such as weld inches/day, repair rates, and welder utilization.
  • Quality Control & Compliance — Ensure compliance with ASME, AWS, API codes; support QA/QC with weld maps, traceability, NDT scheduling, and documentation; maintain WPS/PQR/WPQ and continuity logs.
  • Safety & Risk Mitigation — Enforce welding safety protocols; conduct inspections and risk assessments; ensure full HSE compliance.
  • Team Management & Training — Lead welding foremen, supervisors, and welders; develop training and certification plans.
  • Process Optimization — Reduce rework, improve first‑pass yield, evaluate advanced welding techniques/automation, support digital weld tracking and SAP integration.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Welding Technology, or Metallurgy
  • CWI, CSWIP, or equivalent (preferred)

Experience

  • 10–15 years in welding operations, including pipe double‑joint operations
  • Proven leadership in welding management
  • Knowledge of WPS/PQR development, NDT coordination, and weld traceability systems

Skills

  • Strong leadership and coordination
  • Understanding of welding metallurgy and defect analysis
  • Familiarity with SAP and welding documentation systems
  • Strong communication and technical reporting abilities
