Your Impact

As the Senior Analyst, Costing & Inventory Operations, you will provide the analytical foundation for purchasing, inventory planning, and inventory cost management across Pearce Services' national operations. You will ensure the organization has accurate visibility into material costs, inventory balances, consumables spending, and supply chain performance while supporting operational and financial decision-making.

In this role, you will partner closely with Accounting, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to improve inventory controls, strengthen financial reporting, optimize purchasing decisions, and enhance the accuracy of inventory accounting. Your work will directly influence profitability, cash flow, and operational efficiency by ensuring materials are planned, tracked, and reported accurately throughout the business.


Core Responsibilities

Inventory Planning & Cost Analysis

  • Analyze inventory balances, purchasing activity, material usage, and consumables spending across the business.

  • Support purchasing plans by monitoring demand trends, inventory levels, and supply requirements.

  • Identify inventory risks including shortages, excess inventory, slow-moving materials, and obsolete stock.

  • Develop recommendations that improve inventory utilization while maintaining operational readiness.

  • Support long-range purchasing and inventory planning activities.

Inventory Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Partner with Accounting to support inventory accounting activities, including:

    • Inventory receipts

    • Transfers

    • Cycle counts

    • Inventory adjustments

    • Reserve analysis

  • Assist with month-end close through reconciliations, variance analysis, and inventory reporting.

  • Support accurate financial treatment of inventory, consumables, and operating supplies within the P&L.

  • Analyze purchase price variance (PPV), inventory reserves, and material cost trends.

ERP & Data Management

  • Maintain purchasing and inventory data integrity within ERP systems.

  • Review inventory transactions and item master records to ensure reporting accuracy.

  • Support ERP optimization initiatives related to inventory planning and purchasing.

  • Validate purchasing, inventory, and financial reporting data across multiple systems.

Reporting & Business Intelligence

  • Develop recurring dashboards and reports covering:

    • Inventory balances

    • Material usage

    • Purchase price variance

    • Consumables spending

    • Department expense trends

    • Inventory turnover

    • Obsolescence and reserve reporting

  • Provide leadership with actionable insights to support purchasing and inventory decisions.

  • Perform ad hoc analyses related to inventory performance, supplier trends, and operational efficiency.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with Procurement to improve purchasing strategies and inventory planning.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to ensure material availability aligns with operational demand.

  • Work closely with Accounting and Finance to improve inventory reporting, reconciliations, and cost visibility.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen inventory controls and operational efficiency.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory reporting, purchasing workflows, and financial controls.

  • Recommend automation and reporting enhancements that improve accuracy and scalability.

  • Document inventory planning and costing processes to support standardization across the organization.

  • Support ERP reporting enhancements and business process optimization initiatives.


Core Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in inventory accounting, cost analysis, supply chain finance, purchasing analytics, operational finance, or a related analytical role.

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Purchasing

    • Inventory planning

    • Inventory accounting

    • Cost analysis

    • Variance analysis

    • Month-end close

  • Experience working within ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, lookups, dashboards, and financial modeling.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to operational stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting distributed, multi-site, warehouse, field service, or logistics operations.

  • Experience within inventory-intensive environments managing high-volume materials or consumables.

  • Knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, and warehouse operations.

  • Experience supporting ERP implementations, reporting enhancements, or system optimization initiatives.

  • Familiarity with KPI reporting including:

    • Inventory balances

    • Inventory turnover

    • Obsolescence

    • Purchase Price Variance (PPV)

    • Inventory reserves

    • Consumables usage

  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial planning.

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Adaptive Planning, Hyperion, or similar reporting platforms.

Base Pay Range
$90,000$120,000 USD
