Facilities Management is recruiting for Sprinkler System Workers to install, modify, and maintain irrigation and drip irrigation systems, components, and controllers around County facilities.  

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Installing and repairing sprinkler heads, pipes, valves, low voltage electrical and controllers.
  • Utilizing smart technology to program controllers.
  • Reading irrigation system blueprints, preparing sketches, determining layouts and system components.
  • Determining materials needed for systems maintenance and modification.
  • Performing clock maintenance, replacing fuses and panels, and cleaning mechanisms.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Incumbents must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, work history verification, as well as a job-related physical exam and drug screening.

Physical: This position requires frequent moving, lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds as well as squatting, crawling, kneeling, and stooping.

Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance are required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.

Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.
One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience designing, installing, repairing, and maintaining water sprinkler systems.
The ideal candidate will have experience installing and maintaining irrigation systems for a large commercial, institutional, or governmental landscaping operation. Experience using smart technology to program controllers remotely is desired.
