Cafe Assistant

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Preston to assist with the appointment of a Cafe Assistant, on a 1-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £13.45 - £17.50 per hour

Hours per Week: 24

Summary:

The Cafe Assistant will support the preparation and cooking of food from a small but popular menu, ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, and customer service. This role requires someone who is organised, efficient, and able to remain calm and productive during busy service periods.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook food in accordance with the café's menu and quality standards.
• Assist with food preparation and ensure ingredients are ready for service.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment at all times.
• Follow food safety and hygiene regulations and procedures.
• Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining attention to detail.
• Support other kitchen staff and work effectively as part of a team.

Essentials:

• Previous experience working as a Chef, Cook, Kitchen Assistant, or in a food preparation role.
• Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a café, restaurant, or similar environment.
  
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and remain calm under pressure.
  
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
  
• Good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety practices.
