Network Engineer

About the Role

INNOVATE is seeking a Network Engineer to join its Professional Services team on a permanent basis.

This is a client-facing technical role focused on the design, implementation and support of networking solutions across a diverse client base. The successful candidate will work closely with both the Professional Services and Service Desk teams, delivering network projects, supporting infrastructure improvements and acting as a technical escalation point for complex networking issues.

The role will involve technical discovery, solution design, project delivery and operational support across LAN, WAN and wireless environments. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining reliable, scalable network solutions while ensuring best practice standards are applied across client environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

Networking & Infrastructure

• Configure, implement and support Cisco and Meraki networking solutions.
• Deploy and maintain routing, switching and wireless infrastructure.
• Support LAN, WAN and SD-WAN connectivity.
• Troubleshoot network performance, connectivity and routing issues.
• Support network upgrades, migrations and infrastructure refresh projects.
• Assist with network design activities and technical solution development.
• Maintain network documentation, diagrams and configuration records.

Professional Services Delivery

• Participate in client discovery meetings and site visits.
• Gather technical requirements and assess existing environments.
• Take ownership of allocated network projects through to completion.
• Perform testing, validation and documentation activities.
• Complete structured handovers to the Service Desk team.

Service Desk Support

• Act as a technical escalation point for advanced networking issues.
• Assist with root cause analysis and complex troubleshooting.
• Support major incident response activities where networking expertise is required.
• Work collaboratively with Service Desk engineers to resolve customer issues.

Customer Engagement

• Build trusted relationships with customers.
• Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide technical recommendations and best-practice guidance.

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum 3 years' experience in network engineering or infrastructure engineering.
• Strong understanding of:
  • Routing and switching
  • LAN/WAN technologies
  • Wireless networking
  • Network troubleshooting
• Hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies.
• Cisco Meraki experience highly desirable.
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects and upgrades.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Comfortable working directly with customers.
• Full clean EU driving licence.

Desirable Skills

• Cisco CCNA or CCNP.
• Experience with Fortinet networking solutions.
• Microsoft Azure networking experience.
• SD-WAN experience.
• Experience working within a Managed Service Provider environment.
• Knowledge of network monitoring and management tools.
