We are looking for our newest addition to the Cook Museum Team and it could be you!
What are we looking for?
Someone who is energetic, creative, knowledgeable about natural science, and doesn’t mind a little hard work. This person would ideally have a background in elementary education in an informal atmosphere and presenting material to the public, be highly organized, and have a proven history of positive leadership. Last, but certainly not least, this person is comfortable working with people and animals alike, so communication skills and flexibility are required. Schedule flexibility (up to 25 hours per week) is always appreciated. However, this position will typically be scheduled Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 8:30am-3:30pm with one weekend day per month for special events.
Requirements
What does a day look like in this position?
No two days working at the museum are the same and this position is no different. Some of the common tasks performed in this role are:
- Teaching material/leading classes
- Setting up for classes/cleaning the education areas
- Researching class material and helping to develop courses
When someone comes here for a class, camp, or presentation of any kind, our Educators become the face of the museum for these guests. It is important that these people be confident, personable, and knowledgeable. They are part of a closely knit Education Team that support one another and work very closely together.
If this sounds like something that you want to know more about, we would love to talk to you about it! Fill out an application and we will be in touch. Please make sure that you give us plenty of details about your past work experience.
