Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
As Global Front End Central Quality (FECQ) Defense Line 2 (DL2) System Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will drive the strategy, governance, development, deployment, and continuous improvement of DL2 quality systems across Micron’s front-end manufacturing network. These systems enable early detection, effective equipment control, equipment-risk reduction, and timely operational response to protect product quality, yield, reliability, manufacturing continuity, and productivity.
You will provide technical and program leadership for one or more DL2 portfolios, including Fault Detection and Classification, Full Trace Analytics, Tool Alarm management, Equipment Constant monitoring, Industrial Internet of Things monitoring, equipment-risk assessment, equipment lifecycle control, post-maintenance controls, and related AI-enabled diagnostic and automation solutions.
You will partner with front-end fabs and central organizations to establish global business processes, system requirements, governance models, Best-Known Methods, performance metrics, and scalable operating practices. You will also identify system and workflow gaps, lead improvement programs, support technology-ramp readiness, and accelerate the integration of analytics, automation, machine learning, and generative AI into quality-system workflows.
Responsibilities:
Equipment Control and DL2 Detection Systems
- Provide global technical leadership and governance for one or more DL2 equipment-control and detection systems, including FDC, Tool Alarm, ECID monitoring, IIoT monitoring, and related interdiction and reaction workflows.
- Define and maintain global business processes, business rules, system standards, naming conventions, data requirements, access controls, approval workflows, and Best-Known Methods.
- Establish golden configurations, templates, equipment-control strategies, and cross-site alignment methods that enable scalable deployment.
- Develop and govern performance indicators for system coverage, configuration quality, detection maturity, limit health, compliance, interdiction enablement, operational response, and system adoption.
- Partner with Fab, IT, SMAI, MAE, and central engineering teams to resolve system, process, and organizational gaps.
- Lead SWATs, task-force teams, workshops, and technical reviews to prioritize improvements and accelerate global alignment.
Automation, Analytics, and Digital Transformation
- Identify and prioritize opportunities to apply automation, advanced analytics, machine learning, generative AI, and agentic workflows to equipment-control and quality processes.
- Translate manufacturing and quality problems into clear user requirements, data requirements, workflow designs, success measures, and deployment criteria.
- Develop prototypes or partner with IT, SMAI, and application-development teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Lead data preparation, exploratory analysis, model validation, user-acceptance testing, production qualification, deployment, adoption, and post-implementation review.
- Design automated dashboards, data-quality checks, compliance reports, alerts, recommendations, and decision-support workflows.
- Evaluate AI and analytical solutions for accuracy, reliability, explainability, user adoption, workflow effectiveness, and measurable business value.
- Integrate domain knowledge, business-process requirements, control plans, detection methods, and reaction workflows into AI-enabled solutions.
- Contribute to integrated quality platforms and end-to-end diagnostic workflows connecting detection, investigation, corrective action, and prevention.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, semiconductor manufacturing, data science, computer science, information systems, quality engineering, or a related discipline.
- Five or more years of relevant experience in semiconductor manufacturing, equipment engineering, process control, quality systems, manufacturing systems, data engineering, analytics, or related fields.
- Working knowledge of semiconductor fab processes, equipment, manufacturing execution systems, and manufacturing-quality workflows.
- Experience with one or more equipment-control or detection domains, such as FDC, equipment alarms, equipment constants, sensor monitoring, equipment-risk analysis, maintenance controls, or automated reaction systems.
- Experience leading cross-functional technical projects or global programs.
- Strong analytical, structured problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and support global manufacturing needs.
- Ability and willingness to travel based on program and site-support needs.
