Description
Great with detail, commercially minded, and the sort of person who wants to know why the numbers don’t quite add up?
Nutrinza is looking for an Inventory Planning Lead to take ownership of the accuracy, control and visibility of inventory across the wider Intelact group. Based at our Te Awamutu head office and reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you’ll work closely with Finance and operational teams across multiple sites. You’ll sit at the intersection of inventory, systems, processes and commercial decision-making.
You’ll make sure what’s happening physically with stock is accurately reflected in the systems and numbers behind it, from purchasing and receipting through to transfers, manufacturing, costings, reconciliations and month-end reporting. And you’ll be looking for ways to make it better.
Just as importantly, you’ll use that information to help the business plan ahead, improving visibility of demand, stock requirements and potential supply gaps.
About Nutrinza
Nutrinza supplies feed supplements to New Zealand’s dairy industry and is part of the wider Intelact group, a group of agri-consulting and supply businesses operating in New Zealand and internationally.
It’s a practical, fast-moving environment, with inventory moving across multiple sites and plenty of opportunity for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, improving processes and giving the business better information to work with.
About the role
This is not a traditional warehouse or logistics role, but you’ll need to understand what’s happening on the ground. You’ll work closely with people across Finance, Operations, Customer Service and our site-based teams, with travel to other group sites as needed.
A big part of the role is getting the fundamentals right: accurate transactions, good controls, robust reconciliations and reliable reporting. But we’re also looking for someone who can see beyond the transaction itself.
You’ll investigate discrepancies, understand what’s driving them, improve processes and controls, and turn inventory information into useful commercial insight. You’ll also help strengthen forecasting and planning, supporting better decisions about stock availability, purchasing and future requirements.
Alongside this, you’ll provide day-to-day leadership and support to three team members, helping build capability and consistency across the inventory function.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for:
- overseeing inventory movements and values across the group, and the accuracy and timeliness of transactions
- maintaining and reviewing product costings, and supporting month-end reconciliations, reporting and variance analysis
- investigating discrepancies between physical stock, inventory records and financial information, and following through on solutions
- strengthening inventory planning and forecasting to improve demand visibility and support purchasing and replenishment decisions
- providing commercially useful inventory reporting and insights
- working with teams across the business to establish consistent inventory processes and controls
- leading and supporting three team members, providing direction, coaching and clear communication
- identifying practical opportunities to improve systems, processes and the use of data, including automation and emerging AI-enabled tools.
What we’re looking for
You might come from inventory control or planning, supply chain, procurement, inventory accounting, finance operations or another commercially focused role where you’ve had to understand both what is happening with the stock and what the numbers are saying.
More important than a particular job title, you’ll be someone who:
- is very strong on detail, accuracy and follow-through
- likes clear processes and making sure they actually work
- is comfortable reconciling information and investigating when something doesn’t look right
- understands the commercial impact of inventory decisions
- can provide clear direction and practical support to a team
- builds good working relationships and communicates confidently with both Finance and operational people
- is comfortable using inventory or ERP systems, spreadsheets and data
- enjoys finding better ways of doing things and is curious about how technology could help.
Experience in a multi-site, manufacturing, bulk product, distribution, agribusiness or similar environment would be useful, as would exposure to product costing, landed costs and month-end inventory reporting. We also value the practical experience you’ve gained along the way.
What’s on offer
This is an opportunity to take ownership of an important function, lead a team and make a visible difference across the wider business. You’ll work with people from Finance through to the operational teams, with scope to strengthen the fundamentals, improve the information available for decision-making and help shape how inventory is managed in the future.
If you’re someone who loves getting the detail right, enjoys solving the puzzle when the numbers don’t quite stack up, and can see the commercial story behind the stock, we’d love to hear from you.
