The MRRT/MRB Focal is the day-to-day owner of nonconforming material flow in the factory. This role leads daily MRRT reviews, prepares and drives issues through MRB, performs hands-on inspection and audits, and partners with cross-functional teams to contain defects, assign ownership, and close corrective actions. The ideal candidate combines solid technical inspection skills with strong follow-through and the ability to drive accountability across organizations.
Key Responsibilities

- Prepare nonconforming material for MRB and drive timely disposition with engineering, supplier quality, and operations.
- Review and validate defect data, failure descriptions, supplier information, and supporting evidence for completeness and accuracy.
- Drive timely containment actions, including stock purges when needed, to prevent further escapes into production.
- Assign issue ownership to the right function (supplier, manufacturing, logistics, NPI, or engineering) and track corrective actions through closure.
- Monitor DMR aging, backlog, and cycle time, and escalate overdue items.
- Inspect purchased parts, materials, components, and assemblies against drawings and specifications using precision measuring tools, gauges, test fixtures, electronic measurement equipment and leak detectors.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Perform receiving and part audits to confirm availability and conformance, and document defects accurately.
- Apply structured problem solving to identify root causes and support process improvements.
- Maintain standard reports, test results, and quality metrics.
Leadership and Problem Solving
- Facilitates MRRT and quality review forums across multiple organizations and drives accountability for issue resolution and corrective action closure.
- Supports investigations of recurring quality failures, supplier escapes, manufacturing defects, and operational disruptions.
- Uses data analysis, trend identification, and structured problem-solving methods to support effective corrective actions.
Impact
- Improves factory quality, manufacturing throughput, and customer satisfaction through timely resolution of nonconforming material and recurring issues.
- Reduces DMR backlog, aging, and repeat escapes through effective containment, clear ownership, and corrective action follow-through.
- Provides key input to decisions on material disposition, stock purges, supplier escalations, and production recovery plans.
Interpersonal Skills
- Works effectively with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, NPI, Supplier Quality, Planning, Procurement, and Factory Quality.
- Facilitates MRRT and MRB meetings with stakeholders who have competing priorities and drives alignment toward resolution.
- Communicates quality issues clearly and actionably to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Influences decisions and drives accountability without direct reporting authority.
- Builds collaborative relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and leadership to speed up issue resolution.
