Description
This is a full time position with benefits package
The role starts with a strong focus on 3D scanning, measuring, and drafting steel castings and wear components.
With training and demonstrated aptitude, it can expand into field applications support, customer development, and technical outside sales.
Core Responsibilities
- Visit mines and aggregate-processing facilities to measure and 3D-scan steel castings and wear components.
- Import, clean, interpret, and convert scan data into usable models and accurate technical drawings.
- Create and revise 2D/3D drawings using CAD software, especially SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD; learn specialized tools such as Solid Edge, Artec Studio, and Design X as needed.
- Work alongside the Manager to understand part fit, operating conditions, customer needs, and manufacturer requirements.
- Communicate clearly with plant, maintenance, engineering, and supplier contacts; coordinate accurate technical documentation.
- Over time, learn equipment applications, identify customer opportunities, and develop the skills needed for consultative technical sales.
Required Qualifications
- Working experience with CAD-based mechanical drafting or 3D modeling; practical SolidWorks proficiency is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read dimensions, interpret mechanical parts, and produce accurate technical work.
- Mechanical aptitude, computer proficiency, attention to detail, and willingness to learn 3D scanning workflows.
- Comfortable working independently from home and safely visiting active mining and aggregate sites.
- Good interpersonal communication, initiative, and willingness to travel 20–50%.
Helpful, but Not Required
Experience with AutoCAD 3D, Solid Edge, Artec Studio, Design X, reverse engineering, metrology, fabrication, castings, mining, aggregates, or heavy industrial equipment. An engineering or drafting-related degree is welcome, but equivalent hands-on experience is acceptable.
This is a hands-on technical role that combines practical design work with time spent at customer sites. The successful candidate will enjoy both the detail of CAD modeling and the real-world environment of industrial facilities.
