Description
Territory: Greater Toronto Area
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Industry: Tile, Stone & Architectural Building Products
Compensation: $75,000–$95,000 base + uncapped commission (illustrative range)
About the Company
We're representing the type of established, privately owned tile and architectural surfaces distributor that has built its reputation on quality products, dependable service, and strong relationships throughout the GTA.
With a showroom and distribution operation in Mississauga, the business supplies porcelain and ceramic tile, natural stone, large-format slabs, and specialty architectural finishes for commercial, multifamily, hospitality, and residential projects.
The team works closely with architects, interior designers, developers, general contractors, and tile installation companies. Some customers have been with the business for years, while new relationships continue to develop through referrals, product introductions, and project specifications.
The company is growing its commercial division and investing in its sales team, product collections, and customer experience.
It's a busy, collaborative environment with knowledgeable people who take their work seriously without taking themselves too seriously. Sales, showroom, purchasing, and warehouse teams work closely together, and management remains actively involved in the business.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a Territory Sales Representative to manage and grow commercial accounts across the Greater Toronto Area.
This is an outside sales position with an established customer base and a clear expectation to develop new business.
You'll spend much of your time meeting architects, designers, developers, and contractors, introducing new collections, discussing upcoming projects, and helping customers select products that meet their design, performance, and budget requirements.
The company has strong relationships in the market, but there is plenty of room to grow, particularly within commercial specifications, multifamily developments, hospitality, and design-build projects.
You'll have the support of an experienced showroom and operations team, along with the independence to manage your territory and develop your own relationships.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Sales & Account Management
-
Manage and grow an established portfolio of commercial accounts throughout the GTA.
-
Develop new business with architecture firms, interior design studios, developers, general contractors, and tile installation companies.
-
Identify upcoming construction and renovation projects and get involved early in the product selection process.
-
Schedule regular customer visits, product presentations, and showroom appointments.
-
Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing, and follow up on outstanding opportunities.
-
Maintain strong relationships with existing customers and identify opportunities for additional business.
-
Meet agreed sales and gross margin targets.
-
Maintain an organized pipeline of active projects and prospective customers.
Architectural Specifications & Project Sales
-
Introduce new tile, stone, and architectural surface collections to designers and specifiers.
-
Work with architects and interior designers to secure product specifications on upcoming projects.
-
Provide samples, technical information, pricing, and availability details.
-
Help customers select products based on appearance, durability, application, and budget.
-
Follow projects from early specification through tendering, purchasing, and delivery.
-
Work with internal teams to address product questions, lead times, and order requirements.
-
Maintain awareness of competing products, pricing, and market trends.
Territory Development
-
Build a territory plan focused on both existing customers and new business.
-
Identify target architecture firms, design studios, contractors, and development groups.
-
Attend industry events, supplier presentations, and customer meetings.
-
Maintain accurate customer records, sales activity, and forecasts in the CRM.
-
Share market feedback with management and purchasing teams.
-
Work closely with showroom staff to coordinate customer visits, samples, and product presentations.
What We're Looking For
-
At least 3 years of outside sales or account management experience.
-
Experience selling tile, flooring, natural stone, architectural surfaces, or related building products.
-
Established relationships with architects, interior designers, developers, or contractors in the GTA.
-
Experience developing new accounts while maintaining existing customer relationships.
-
Comfortable discussing product specifications, pricing, lead times, and project requirements.
-
Strong communication and presentation skills.
-
Able to manage multiple projects and customer relationships at different stages.
-
Organized, responsive, and comfortable working independently.
-
Experience using CRM software to manage sales activity and opportunities.
-
Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle for customer visits.
Experience with commercial specification sales would be particularly valuable.
Who Will Do Well Here?
You'll enjoy this role if you like being out in the market, meeting customers, and developing relationships that lead to repeat business.
You understand that selling architectural products involves more than providing a price. It means getting involved early, helping customers find the right materials, and staying connected as projects move forward.
You're comfortable walking into a design studio with a new collection, meeting a contractor on-site, or sitting down with a developer to discuss materials for an upcoming project.
You follow through, keep your customers informed, and take responsibility for your territory.
The team values people who are approachable, reliable, and willing to help each other when things get busy.
What the Company Offers
-
Competitive base salary and uncapped commission.
-
Established accounts alongside opportunities to develop new business.
-
A broad product range with new collections introduced regularly.
-
A well-established showroom and distribution operation in Mississauga.
-
Support from experienced showroom, purchasing, and operations teams.
-
Product training and ongoing supplier education.
-
Direct access to management and quick decision-making.
-
Independence to organize your territory and customer relationships.
-
Opportunities to grow as the commercial division expands.
-
A friendly, experienced team with a practical approach to getting things done.
