Clinical Nurse Manager / OR Charge Nurse

Lead with Purpose. Build an Exceptional Team. Make an Impact.

No Weekends. No Call. A Leadership Opportunity Unlike the Traditional Hospital Setting.

At Indiana Orthopedic Institute, we believe exceptional patient care starts with exceptional people and exceptional leadership. We're not just building a surgery center; we're building a culture where teamwork, accountability, respect, and clinical excellence are part of everything we do.

We're looking for an experienced Registered Nurse and natural leader to serve as our Clinical Nurse Manager / Charge Nurse. This is an opportunity to take an active leadership role in a growing orthopedic surgery center, influence the employee experience, support a highly skilled clinical team, and help shape the future of our surgical operations.

This isn't a leadership role spent behind a desk. You'll remain hands-on in clinical care while leading, mentoring, developing, and empowering the people around you.

If you believe great leaders bring out the best in others, set clear expectations, lead by example, and never lose sight of the patient, we'd love to meet you.

Why Indiana Orthopedic Institute?

We know experienced nurses have choices. We also know that where you work matters just as much as what you do.

Here's what makes this opportunity different:

  • No weekends. No call. Enjoy a more predictable schedule and a healthier balance between your professional and personal life.
  • A chance to make your mark. Play an influential role in shaping clinical operations, team dynamics, and the culture of a growing organization.
  • Leadership with purpose. Develop your team, mentor fellow nurses, and create an environment where people feel supported, valued, and accountable.
  • A collaborative environment. Work alongside experienced surgeons, nurses, surgical technologists, and administrative leaders who share a commitment to exceptional patient care.
  • A more focused surgical setting. Concentrate on orthopedic surgical excellence in a dedicated surgery center environment.
  • A voice at the table. Contribute to operational decisions, process improvements, and the continued development of our clinical team.

What You'll Do

As Clinical Nurse Manager / Charge Nurse, you'll provide clinical leadership and coordinate the delivery of safe, effective, evidence-based patient care throughout the surgical experience. You'll be a clinical resource, a mentor, a problem-solver, and an important part of creating an engaged, high-performing team.

Lead, Develop & Inspire the Team

  • Serve as a clinical leader and trusted resource for nursing and surgical staff.
  • Establish a positive, professional team environment built on communication, collaboration, accountability, and mutual respect.
  • Lead by example, setting the standard for clinical excellence and professional conduct.
  • Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, training, and ongoing feedback.
  • Participate in employee supervision, performance evaluations, merit recommendations, and disciplinary processes.
  • Foster an environment where team members feel empowered to contribute, take ownership, and continuously improve.
  • Partner with the Surgery Center Director to support staffing, scheduling, operational priorities, and departmental goals.

Drive Clinical Excellence & Patient Safety

  • Coordinate and oversee patient care throughout the pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-operative experience.
  • Maintain a hands-on clinical presence, stepping into pre-op, PACU, circulating, and scrub responsibilities as needed.
  • Ensure patients receive safe, compassionate, individualized care from admission through discharge.
  • Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes, and coordinate timely interventions with surgeons and anesthesia providers.
  • Promote consistent adherence to clinical standards, evidence-based practices, and infection prevention protocols.
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation, medication administration records, surgical counts, and patient records.
  • Maintain readiness of emergency equipment, supplies, and clinical resources.

Oversee Surgical Operations

  • Coordinate daily clinical activities to support efficient surgical schedules and patient flow.
  • Ensure operating rooms, pre-op and post-op areas, equipment, and supplies are appropriately prepared and maintained.
  • Monitor inventory and supply needs to ensure the clinical team has the resources necessary to deliver quality care.
  • Support appropriate equipment maintenance, sterilization processes, and regulatory readiness.
  • Work within established budgets while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and leadership to address operational challenges and improve outcomes.

Ensure Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, Indiana Department of Health requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Support quality assurance, infection control, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Participate in policy development, process improvements, and operational planning.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen workflows, improve patient experiences, and elevate clinical outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and continuous learning.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for an experienced, confident nursing professional who understands that leadership is about more than a title. It's about earning trust, setting expectations, developing people, and creating an environment where everyone can do their best work.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Indiana.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a surgery center setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of general nursing principles, clinical practices, and patient care standards.
  • Demonstrated clinical competency in pre-operative, post-operative, and/or intraoperative nursing.
  • Knowledge of surgical center equipment, including patient monitors, C-arms, defibrillators, and emergency equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • The ability to coach and develop employees while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.
  • Sound clinical judgment and the ability to function independently when needed.
  • A collaborative leadership style that values input, encourages growth, and brings people together.
  • The ability to communicate complex clinical information clearly to patients, families, staff, and physicians.
