The Role:

We are now seeking a self-driven and analytical Thermodynamics Support Engineer to join our Climate Controlled Systems team.

In 2024, AutoStore launched the world's first combined frozen & chilled robotic warehouse system, enabling dual temperature storage of goods inside our unique robotic cube system. As a Thermodynamics Support Engineer at AutoStore, you'll work with a growing team supporting this and related solutions throughout their lifecycle, helping customers, partners, and internal stakeholders maximize the value and performance of our Multi-Temperature Solution product portfolio.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical subject matter expert for AutoStore's Multi-Temperature Solution product line, supporting customers, integrators, and internal teams throughout sales, implementation, and operational phases.
  • Provide technical guidance and solution support for refrigeration and frozen warehouse applications, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and energy efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial, Customer Success, Product Management, and Engineering teams to employ solutions that meet customer requirements while balancing performance, cost, and operational needs.
  • Support customer engagements including technical presentations, workshops, solution reviews, and training.
  • Conduct training programs and technical education for customers, distributors, installation partners, and internal teams.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, commissioning support, and operational assessments to ensure installations meet AutoStore standards and customer expectations.
  • Analyze field performance data, investigate customer-reported issues, and coordinate with engineering teams to identify and implement improvements.
  • Support the development of technical documentation, best practices, operating procedures, and training materials.
  • Contribute to continuous product improvement by providing structured feedback from customer installations and market requirements.
  • Some travel will be required.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics and refrigeration principles, with a focus on system performance, reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Experience within refrigeration, HVAC, cooling systems, industrial thermal solutions, technical support, field engineering, commissioning, or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to customers, partners, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary teams including Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Commercial functions.
  • Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to understand customer needs and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • Comfortable delivering technical training, presentations, and workshops.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Thermodynamics, Process Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related discipline.
