Description
This position will serve as the technical expert for the Trash & Recycle Division, providing direct supervision and leadership to the team. The position will oversee the administration of the Trash & Recycle Division work plan and methods; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor the work of contractors performing refuse collection work for the City; and implement policies and procedures to maintain compliance with California State and Orange County waste disposal mandates. The position will also inspect work sites, collection routes, and collections before, during and after completion to assure work is completed in a satisfactory and thorough manner. The eligibility list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future Senior Management Analyst vacancies throughout the City.

Work is performed in an office environment and may require occasional travel to off-site facilities, which could involve exposure to outdoor temperatures and inclement weather; equipment noise, equipment vibrations, vehicle and/or chemical fumes, chemicals such as cleaning solvents and grease, machinery and their moving parts, dust and water/moisture.
A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible professional level administrative experience. Public sector experience is highly desirable.
Education: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business, public administration, economics, or a related field.
License/Certificate: Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
