Job Purpose:
The Shop Assistant provides general support to the fabrication department by performing non-electrical production tasks, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and assisting technicians with daily operations. This position plays an important role in keeping the shop running efficiently by preparing materials, operating basic equipment, and ensuring work areas remain clean, safe, and organized.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate the wire bending machine to bend and prepare wire according to work instructions and production requirements.
2. Assist fabrication technicians with basic, non-electrical tasks as assigned.
3. Prepare materials and components for production.
4. Move materials, tools, and equipment throughout the shop using appropriate material handling equipment.
5. Assist with staging materials for production and completed assemblies.
6. Support production activities to help meet quality and delivery schedules.
7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the fabrication shop.
8. Sweep, remove trash, and keep work areas clear and safe.
9. Support technicians with basic, non-electrical tasks as needed.
10. Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and shop procedures.

Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED preferred.
· Previous manufacturing, warehouse, or shop experience preferred but not required.
· Experience operating basic shop equipment is a plus.

· Perform repetitive lifting, bending, carrying, pushing, and pulling

· Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment and electrical components
· Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: From $18.00 - $19.00 per hour

Schedule:
- Shop is open Monday through Friday, 6:00 am – 6:00 pm.
- We have two shifts you can choose to work; they are below:
5:00 am – 3:30 pm
6:00 am – 4:30 pm. - Weekend availability: Saturdays from 6:00 am – 2:00 pm (expected to work one Saturday each month).
- Overtime pay available for hours worked beyond 40 hours in a week.
