Position Summary
Micron is seeking highly motivated Master's and PhD students to join our Summer 2027 Semiconductor Technology Development Internship Program in Albany, New York.
As an intern, you will work alongside engineers and researchers developing future semiconductor technologies, advanced process capabilities, and next-generation memory solutions. You will contribute to meaningful technical projects, gain hands-on experience in semiconductor research and development, and present your work to engineering leadership at the conclusion of your internship.
This role is ideal for students who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, working with advanced technologies, and contributing to innovations that will shape the future of the semiconductor industry.
Internship Areas
Interns may support projects in one or more of the following areas:
- Advanced Lithography & High-NA EUV
- Materials Research & Innovation
- Process Integration
- Thin Films & Deposition
- Dry Etch Technology
- Metrology & Defect Analysis
- Advanced Packaging Technologies
- Automation & Data Analytics
- Semiconductor Equipment Development
- Technology Pathfinding & Research
Albany's initial focus includes advancing next-generation lithography, enabling High-NA EUV, accelerating materials innovation, and driving technology pathfinding in collaboration with leading industry and research partners.
Responsibilities
- Support semiconductor research and development activities
- Design and execute engineering experiments
- Analyze technical data and identify trends
- Apply statistical methods to solve engineering problems
- Develop recommendations based on experimental results
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and external research partners
- Document findings and communicate technical results
- Participate in team meetings, technical reviews, and development activities
- Deliver a final project presentation to technical leadership
- Leverage AI-enabled tools, data analytics platforms, and digital solutions to enhance research productivity, accelerate problem-solving, improve data analysis, and support technical decision-making while adhering to Micron's standards for responsible and secure AI use.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in:
- Chemical Engineering
- Materials Science & Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Computer Engineering
- Data Science
- Related STEM discipline
Additional qualifications:
- Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within collaborative teams
- Demonstrated interest in advanced technology research and development
Preferred Qualifications
- Semiconductor manufacturing, research, or laboratory experience
- Cleanroom experience
- Experience with data analysis tools such as JMP, Python, R, MATLAB, or similar software
- Knowledge of statistical methods and experimental design
- Experience conducting independent research projects
- Technical publications, conference presentations, or research experience preferred
- Experience using AI-assisted tools, advanced analytics platforms, or computational methods to improve engineering, research, data analysis, or problem-solving workflows.
