Overview
Johns Hopkins Intrastaff, the internal staffing agency for the Johns Hopkins Health System and its partner hospitals, is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join the Outpatient Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Intrastaff provides highly qualified temporary professionals across a wide range of Johns Hopkins locations, offering the unique opportunity to gain valuable experience within one of the nation's leading healthcare systems while enjoying the flexibility of temporary employment. In this role, you will work closely with patients managing chronic respiratory conditions, supporting their rehabilitation, improving their quality of life, and contributing to exceptional patient care alongside some of the world's leading healthcare professionals. Pay Rate: Competitive hourly rate, negotiable based on experience
Responsibilities
- Observe, assess, and monitor patients participating in outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation programs to ensure safe and effective treatment progression.
- Obtain and document vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and other patient indicators as appropriate throughout rehabilitation sessions.
- Provide hands-on support and encouragement during therapy activities, promoting patient engagement, comfort, and successful program participation.
- Educate patients and their families on pulmonary disease management, breathing techniques, energy conservation, medication compliance, and rehabilitation goals.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns as needed to ensure patient safety and continuity of care.
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary pulmonary rehabilitation team, including a fellow Respiratory Therapist responsible for clinical documentation and electronic medical record entry.
- Reinforce individualized treatment plans and support patients in achieving their rehabilitation goals and improving overall quality of life.
- Adhere to all infection prevention protocols, safety standards, departmental procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a positive, compassionate, and patient-centered environment while delivering exceptional customer service and professional care.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to support optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Current Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant setting preferred.
