Description

The Financial Services Department is looking for two highly energetic and motivated self-starters to provide clerical and customer service at City Hall. The Clerical Assistants serve as the first point of contact for residents and visitors, both in person and by telephone, and play an important role in delivering quality public service.

The Clerical Assistant will perform a variety of specialized and responsible administrative, clerical, and receptionist duties for residents and visitors to City Hall.Typical responsibilities include:
- Greeting residents and visitors and responding to routine inquiries.
- Answering a high volume of telephone calls and directing callers to the appropriate department or staff member.
- Accepting over-the-counter payments and handling cash transactions.
- Preparing routine correspondence, documents, and spreadsheets.
- Receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming and outgoing mail.
- Performing clerical duties such as typing, filing, maintaining records, and recording information.
- Providing administrative support to City staff.
- Performing mathematical calculations of average difficulty.
- Preparing customer service correspondence and other documents as assigned.
- Serving as an information resource for residents, visitors, and City staff.
ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION
Part-Time – 25 Hours per Week
Choose from one of two shifts:
- Monday–Thursday | 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Monday–Thursday | 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
These positions are not eligible for benefits.
Education: Qualified applicants must have completed 12th grade or equivalent GED and have some college-level business courses.
Experience: One year of office work experience.
Licenses and Certifications: A valid California Class C Driver's License and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and through employment are required.
