Description

Job Summary

Foxconn is seeking a skilled and motivated Test Engineer to support our electronics manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing test processes and solutions for PCBA and system-level products throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.

The Test Engineer will work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, NPI, Maintenance, and Operations teams to ensure test readiness, improve test efficiency, troubleshoot product and equipment issues, and support successful new product introductions. This role requires strong technical knowledge of PCBA manufacturing and electronic test methodologies, along with a hands-on, data-driven approach to problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain test environments, test plans, test processes, and test procedures for PCBA and electronic products.

  • Develop and support test programs for manufacturing test equipment, including ICT, Flying Probe, Functional Test, X-Ray, and related test systems.

  • Support test engineering activities for New Product Introduction (NPI), including product validation, test readiness, process development, and preparation of technical reports and recommendations.

  • Analyze production test data, failures, equipment downtime, and repair trends to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

  • Troubleshoot electronic PCBs, assemblies, fixtures, and test equipment and provide technical recommendations to improve product quality and test performance.

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to manufacturing operations and promptly respond to production line and test equipment issues.

  • Develop and optimize test capacity and equipment utilization to support production requirements and manufacturing targets.

  • Review existing test equipment, fixtures, and infrastructure against current and future production requirements and recommend necessary improvements.

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and NPI teams to improve first-pass yield, test coverage, cycle time, test efficiency, and overall product quality.

  • Coordinate with Procurement and external vendors for test equipment, fixtures, tools, spare parts, and other resources required for test setup and production support.

  • Partner with the Maintenance team to establish and maintain preventive maintenance programs for test equipment.

  • Train technicians and operators on test equipment operation, test procedures, troubleshooting practices, and proper handling of test systems.

  • Participate in PFMEA, NPI readiness reviews, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support engineering change implementation and ensure test processes and documentation remain aligned with product and customer requirements.

  • Maintain accurate test documentation, procedures, reports, and engineering records.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve manufacturing and customer-related test issues in a timely manner.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 2–3+ years of experience in test engineering, electronics manufacturing, PCBA manufacturing, or a related environment.

  • Strong understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes, SMT processes, test methodologies, and industry best practices.

  • Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing test equipment and methodologies such as ICT, Flying Probe, Functional Test, and X-Ray inspection.

  • Strong understanding of electronic components, PCB assemblies, schematics, test specifications, and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Experience supporting NPI and production manufacturing environments preferred.

  • Knowledge of test fixture development, test equipment maintenance, and manufacturing test capacity planning.

  • Ability to analyze test and production data, identify trends, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, and customer-facing teams.

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities with limited supervision.

  • Demonstrated flexibility and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to supporting manufacturing operations.
