In this role, you will contact facilities, insurance carriers, responsible parties, and other stakeholders to collect outstanding balances and resolve rejected claims. You will also assist with billing inquiries, payment processing, collection letters, and other activities that support the department.
What you’ll do:
Make collection calls regarding outstanding invoices and balances
Assist with preparing collection letters for review by the Controller
Build positive relationships with facilities and obtain information needed to support billing, patient setup, and collections
Contact insurance carriers, responsible parties, and others to follow up on rejected claims and obtain accurate insurance information
Assist the Business Manager with credit card payments, statement inquiries, audits, and collection activities
Research account discrepancies and help resolve billing and payment issues
Document collection activity and maintain accurate account information
Work collaboratively with coworkers to ensure departmental deadlines are met efficiently
Provide professional and courteous service to facilities, patients, caregivers, insurance carriers, and other stakeholders
Perform other essential duties as assigned
What we’re looking for:
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
Collections, billing, accounts receivable, or related experience
An understanding of insurance and claims adjudication is preferred
Healthcare experience is helpful, but pharmacy experience is not required
Strong communication skills and a calm, professional approach
Comfort making collection and follow-up calls
Strong problem-solving skills with close attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Comfort navigating multiple computer systems while assisting customers by phone
A dependable, team-oriented approach and commitment to excellent customer service
Schedule and work arrangement:
Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
This position will begin onsite and may become hybrid or fully remote based on demonstrated performance once training has been completed.
Education and/or Certifications:
• High School Diploma or GED
Skills and Qualifications:
• 1+ years of related experience (advanced degree may substitute for experience)
• Advanced computer skills; pharmacy operations system experience preferred/required
• Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines
• Ability to solve problems with minimal direction
• Great attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment working on multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines
• Quality minded; motivated to seek out errors and inquire when something appears inaccurate
