GEICO is seeking a Staff Counsel Procedural Review Manager. In this role, under limited supervision, they will manage all Staff Counsel internal audit activities relating to the review of office files to ensure proper case handling and the review of office practices to ensure they are in accordance with established procedures, standards, and best practices. Reviews office practices to ensure that attorneys and staff are compliant with ISO and HIPAA privacy standards.
Essential Functions:
Interviews and/or approves job applicants for employment. Conducts and/or reviews associate performance appraisals. Initiates or approves salary adjustments, performance ratings, and other personnel changes. Counsels associates and takes disciplinary action or terminates the employment of associates as appropriate.
Manages the Staff Counsel audit team and the full audit cycle, including file reviews, to measure and ensure proper case handling, reporting, and compliance with Staff Counsel policies and procedures.
Reviews and assesses the management of a Staff Counsel office to determine if departmental procedures are effectively implemented.
Prepares and presents reports that reflect audit results. Reviews reports prepared by members of the internal audit team and provides critical analysis and coaching as needed.
Acts as an objective source of independent advice to senior management and effectively communicates findings and recommendations including the identity of loopholes, gaps in policy, and the manipulation of reporting requirements.
Develops auditing guidelines and presents to members of senior management and Staff Counsel Managers on audit trends. Makes recommendations on how to improve the effectiveness of the audit process.
Creates and shares annual auditing schedule. Ensures each Staff Counsel office is audited in accordance with department requirements.
Adheres to the Code of Conduct, company policies, and operating principles.
Basic Qualifications:
Juris Doctor - REQUIRED
Must be able to document files in a clear, concise, professional written manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers and other employees of the organization.
Must demonstrate successful performance in handling trial responsibility for cases of significant severity and complexity.
Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in applicable jurisdictions and meet and maintain licensing requirements including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable.
Must have a minimum of ten years of litigation experience, including insurance defense or personal injury.
Annual Salary
$151,700.00 - $235,750.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
