Performs supervisory functions for the Health Information Management Department (medical records) and Word Processing Department (medical transcription). Establishes policies and procedures for the operations of the departments, provides technical expertise in the areas of assignment to department staff, monitors compliance with all national professional standards, federal and state laws, and accrediting and licensing agencies. Collects statistical data and prepares reports for use by senior managers, WV Department of Health and Human Resources, various hospital committees and Governing Board. The selected applicants must complete a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug screening test. Education: | High school diploma or the equivalent. |
Licensure/Certifications: | Accreditation as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) from the American Health Information Management Association, which was formerly known as an Accredited Record Technician (ART) by the American Medical Record Association. |
Experience: | Three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid clerical or administrative experience involving recordkeeping or data entry. |
Internal Applicants Only: | One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a Medical Records Assistant may substitute for the required experience. Applicants must still have the required licensure/certification and education to qualify. |
