Job Description
Dewberry is currently seeking an Entry Level Environmental Scientist for our Danville, VA office. The position will perform a variety of environmental groundwater sampling and reporting functions in support of site investigation and remediation assignments in the VA and NC areas. In addition, the position will perform wetland delineation and permitting. The Scientist must be flexible, client focused and capable of working independently under the supervision of project managers. The work required of the Scientist is diverse and ranges from general field support during soil and groundwater sampling to technical work that requires strong communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for field sampling and contractor oversight at locations in VA and NC.
- Meets project, client, and regulatory deadlines.
- Works in a timely fashion to meet project budgets.
- Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, and county/agency review staff.
- Composes technical reports, memorandums and other written communication such as email.
- Handles multiple concurrent projects.
- Supports Practice Leads and Management.
- Other duties as required.
Required Skills & Required Experience
- BS Degree in Environmental Science or Geology
- 0 - 3 years of related experience, a plus
- Working knowledge of Virginia DEQ, North Carolina DENR and US Army Corps of Engineers regulations and guidance a plus
- Knowledge of DEQ site remediation requirements a plus
- Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, Excell, Powerpoint, Outlook, ACcess and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with AutoCAD, microstation and/or ArcGIS a plus

The projected range for this position is $61,000 - $63,500 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
