The Role:
Our site in Chaska, MN is seeking a Manufacturing Production Documentation Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.
This role will be focused on improving, standardizing, and aligning manufacturing documentation—especially for injection molding processes. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams (quality, molding, machining, operators) to identify gaps, resolve inconsistencies, and update technical documents such as SOPs, work instructions, mold setup sheets, process parameter records, and validation protocols. The role blends technical writing, process understanding, and operator-focused clarity, helping ensure documentation is accurate, consistent, and easy for production teams to use.
What You’ll Do:
Document Review — They audit existing molding documents (SOPs, work instructions, setup sheets, process parameters) to find outdated, unclear, or inconsistent content.
Process Mapping — They observe molding operations on the floor, map out steps, and ensure documentation matches real‑world practice.
Template Standardization — They help build or refine templates, so all documents look and read the same across molding, machining, and quality.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration — They work with engineers, technicians, operators, and quality teams to clarify instructions and resolve discrepancies.
Mold Setup Documentation — They update mold setup sheets, ensuring correct part numbers, tooling, parameters, and photos are included.
Process Parameter Alignment — They verify that documented molding parameters match validated settings and update records when needed.
Operator‑Friendly Simplification — They rewrite complex technical language into clear, step‑by‑step instructions operators can easily follow.
Part Family Organization — They help group similar molded parts and align documentation across families to reduce redundancy.
Pilot Testing — They test new documentation formats with operators, gather feedback, and refine the templates.
Quality & Compliance Support — They ensure documents meet internal standards, regulatory requirements, and audit expectations.
What We Seek:
Technical writing — Ability to write clear, structured, operator‑friendly documentation.
Manufacturing process knowledge — Basic understanding of injection molding or willingness to learn quickly.
Software proficiency — Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with Visio or flowcharting tools is a plus.
CAD exposure — Experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD is beneficial but not always required.
Attention to detail — Critical for reviewing and correcting technical documents.
Communication skills — Ability to work with engineers, technicians, operators, and quality teams.
Organization — Managing multiple documents, part families, and revision histories.
Problem‑solving — Identifying inconsistencies and proposing improvements.
