About the Team

A role on the Enterprise Insights team means you will be a champion for our current and future guests, inspiring the organization to act in their best interest. You will help partners build consumer-centric strategies and activations.

As a Senior Manager, Consumer Voice and Needs, you will report to the Director of Consumer Voice & Needs and lead the development of Target's understanding of consumer shopping needs as well as the behavioral drivers behind consumer decision making.

You will establish foundational capabilities that help the enterprise understand not only what consumers do, but why they do it. You will connect macro trends, behavioral science, consumer research, guest feedback, and competitive understanding into actionable insights that influence enterprise strategies, merchandising, marketing, experience design, pricing, and long-term strategy.

Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve Target’s enterprise shopping needs framework, establishing foundational perspectives on consumer need states, jobs-to-be-done, and behavioral drivers that can be applied across categories, guest segments, and business strategies.
  • Develop understanding of all consumer and guest frameworks across Enterprise Insights and develop a point of view on which frameworks should be consistently leveraged, when and how and by whom and what role Consumer Voice and Needs frameworks play.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and unmet consumer needs by connecting signals across research, guest feedback, social listening, competitive intelligence, macro trends, life stages, and other external sources.
  • Lead strategic research and deep dives using qualitative and quantitative methodologies to uncover how and why consumer needs, motivations, and shopping behaviors are changing.
  • Turn complex consumer behavior into clear, compelling narratives that build empathy, reveal implications, and inspire action across Consumer Voice & Needs, Enterprise Insights, and business partners.
  • Advance Target’s consumer understanding capabilities by bringing forward emerging research approaches, behavioral science perspectives, and external best practices.

About You

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Consumer Insights, Market Research, Customer Experience, or a related field.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research with the ability to synthesize multiple data sources into strategic insights.
  • Proven ability to connect disparate signals, recognize patterns, and translate findings into strategic implications and opportunities.
  • Strong storytelling, communication, and influence skills, including experience engaging cross-functional partners and senior leaders.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and create structure, particularly when developing new frameworks, approaches, or capabilities.
  • Deep curiosity about people, culture, and human behavior, with a passion for bringing the consumer perspective into business decisions.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs.
