Description
Business Development Strategist, Pacific Northwest
Reports to: Director, Business Development
Position Summary
The Business Development Strategist leads BD activity in the Pacific Northwest, managing the regional client pipeline in the CRM, supporting principal-led relationships, organizing seller-doer activity, and coordinating the regional pursuit initiation process. This role operates with significant independence and mentors junior BD staff within the region.
Core Responsibilities
• Regional Pipeline Management: Maintains a current, accurate, and strategically useful CRM pipeline for the Pacific Northwest region as a non-negotiable professional discipline. Every priority client relationship has a documented contact history, next action and timeline. Pipeline data is never more than one week stale and requires no prompting from the Director to maintain.
• Principal and Seller Doer Support: Structures and coordinates principal and seller doer relationship activity with enough independence that PICs arrive at client meetings prepared, briefed and positioned, because the BD Strategist anticipated what was needed and provided it. Relationship context is always in the CRM, never only in someone's head.
• Pursuit Initiation: Prepares and delivers the client context package to Studio I when a pursuit decision is made. Participates in kickoff meetings and re-engages post-submission for debrief and relationship continuity.
• Team Development: Mentors Business Development Strategists within the region. Provides guidance on CRM discipline, client engagement strategy and professional development.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, architecture, planning or a related field required.
• 5 or more years of experience in AEC business development, client relations or pursuit management.
• Demonstrated fluency and passion for CRM platforms for pipeline management and relationship tracking.
• Strong knowledge of the AEC seller doer model and public sector procurement processes in the Pacific Northwest region.
• Readiness to integrate Business Development into sensible AI workflows.
• High social and communication skills and LinkedIn management skills
The position requires up to 50% travel in the Pacific Northwest region, based around Seattle, with an additional regional Washington state focus in Spokane.
