The IT Procurement Lead establishes and executes sourcing and supplier strategies for enterprise technology products and services. You will lead complex procurement initiatives and help ensure technology investments align with business priorities, IT strategy, risk requirements, and long-term value objectives.The IT Procurement team partners across Technology, business segments, Finance, Legal, Risk, Privacy, Security, and other functions. They develop category strategies, manage sourcing activity, strengthen supplier performance, and improve visibility into technology spend and contractual commitments. The team delivers value through competitive sourcing, demand management, commercial optimization, risk mitigation, supplier consolidation, and effective contract lifecycle management.
As the IT Procurement Lead (Senior Category Manager), you will own category strategies and sourcing plans. You will also lead supplier selection and negotiations, support contract implementation, and manage strategic supplier relationships across a healthcare technology portfolio. The portfolio may include solutions supporting clinical and operational workflows, patient engagement, revenue cycle, telehealth, claims, compliance, interoperability, and healthcare data and analytics. Deep experience in every healthcare category is not expected; success requires relevant healthcare technology experience or strongly transferable experience from a similarly complex, highly regulated industry.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior business and technology leaders, translating business needs into practical sourcing strategies and commercially sound agreements. The IT Procurement Lead evaluates markets and suppliers, develops fact-based recommendations, negotiates complex software and technology-enabled services agreements, and balances cost, value, quality, innovation, implementation needs, and risk. You will operate with significant independence, manage multiple high-visibility initiatives, and use data and judgment to make recommendations in complex or ambiguous situations.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and execute multi-year category strategies and sourcing pipelines informed by business priorities, market intelligence, spend, supplier capabilities, risk, and total cost of ownership.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives, including requirements development, market assessment, competitive events, supplier evaluation, negotiation, contracting, and implementation support.
- Negotiate complex software, SaaS, cloud, data, and technology-enabled services agreements, including pricing and licensing models, service levels, implementation terms, data rights, and renewal protections.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior business and technology leaders, translating business needs into sourcing strategies and advising on market dynamics, supplier options, commercial risk, and trade-offs.
- Partner with Legal, Finance, Information Security, Privacy, Risk, Compliance, Enterprise Architecture, Procurement Operations, and other stakeholders to support timely decisions and improve the stakeholder and supplier experience.
- Evaluate and manage strategic suppliers across the contract lifecycle, including capabilities, financial health, strategic fit, delivery, innovation, security, regulatory considerations, performance, commitments, renewals, and risk.
- Deliver measurable value through cost optimization, demand management, supplier consolidation, contractual protections, process improvement, and supplier-enabled innovation.
- Develop financial analyses, business cases, negotiation strategies, savings forecasts, and executive-ready recommendations while monitoring healthcare technology and supplier-market trends for emerging risks and opportunities.
- Promote adoption of preferred suppliers, procurement policies, sourcing processes, and contract standards, while coaching peers and advancing consistent category-management and sourcing practices.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, technology, finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Eight or more years of progressive experience in IT procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, supplier management, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience sourcing, negotiating, or managing healthcare technology solutions, or comparable complex technology in a highly regulated industry.
- Experience negotiating complex software, SaaS, cloud, data, and technology-enabled services agreements, including pricing structures, licensing metrics, service levels, data rights, renewal protections, and implementation terms.
- Strong understanding of category management, strategic sourcing, supplier evaluation, negotiation, contracting, and supplier relationship management.
- Ability to understand and incorporate business, clinical, regulatory, privacy, security, data, and integration considerations into sourcing decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to advise and influence senior business and technology leaders, translate business requirements into sourcing strategies, and navigate competing stakeholder priorities.
- Experience managing strategic supplier performance, contractual commitments, commercial risks, renewals, and value realization throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Strong financial and business acumen, including the ability to evaluate pricing models, develop business cases, analyze total cost, and communicate financial and commercial implications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, executive presence, relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to analyze multifaceted information, draw sound conclusions, make recommendations, and operate independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in business, supply chain, technology, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPSM, CSCP, CPP, or PMP.
- Experience supporting healthcare technology categories across payer, provider, pharmacy, primary care, home health, or adjacent healthcare settings.
- Working knowledge of healthcare regulatory, privacy, security, interoperability, and data considerations.
- Experience with e-procurement, sourcing, supplier-management, CRM, or contract lifecycle management platforms such as Coupa, Icertis, or Salesforce.
Additional Information
This is a remote position; however, the candidate must be willing to work Eastern Standard Time or Central Standard Time hours.
Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
