The Role

 

This is a technical applications engineering role supported advanced materials used in semiconductor manufacturing. This is not a software development or IT applications role. 

 

The Application Engineer partners with R&D, commercial, in business teams to develop, evaluate, and commercialize photopolymer materials for semiconductor applications. This role supports both new product development and existing customer programs by conducting application testing, analyzing product performance, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with customers to ensure successful product qualification and implementation.

 

This position is ideal for an early career engineer or scientist who enjoys solving technical problems, working in a laboratory environment, and collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver innovative material solutions.

Job Description

Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Collaborate with R&D, commercial, manufacturing, and business teams to develop and commercialize new photopolymer products for semiconductor applications.
• Design, execute, and document laboratory experiments to evaluate material performance and support product development activities
• Support customer qualification efforts by preparing technical data packages, analyzing application results, and assisting with product evaluations
• Investigate product performance concerns and participate in root cause analysis to identify technical solutions and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Analyze experimental data and communicate findings through technical reports, presentations, and customer-facing documentation
• Work directly with customers to understand technical requirements, explain product performance, and support successful implementation of commercial products
• Support new product introductions by providing technical expertise throughout development, qualification, and commercialization activities
• Maintain accurate lab records, technical documentation, and test procedures while ensuring compliance with company quality and safety standards
• Manage multiple technical projects simultaneously while meeting project timelines and customer expectations

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Required

• Bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry, material science, chemical engineering, or related technical discipline
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in materials science, specialty chemicals, semiconductor materials, or a related industry
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret experimental data and identify technical solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for technical data analysis in presentations
• Must be able to travel up to 20% to support customer meetings, product qualifications, and technical collaboration

Preferred

• Experience developing or evaluating materials for semiconductor or electronic materials applications
• Experience with formulation development, material characterization, or application testing
• Familiarity with statistical analysis software such as JMP, MATLAB, Minitab, or similar data analysis tools
• Experience supporting customer technical projects or cross functional product development activities
