Fundamental Equities sits within BlackRock's Portfolio Management Group and provides clients with a broad range of actively managed, high-conviction equity strategies. The team combines deep company research, collaborative investment decision-making, and global connectivity to generate differentiated investment insights and portfolio outcomes. Through a hybrid research model, investment professionals work closely across regions and sectors to identify opportunities and deliver long-term value for clients.

 

Your role and impact

This Associate Core Portfolio Manager role supports the United States equity investment team within Fundamental Equities. The position plays a critical role in implementing investment decisions, supporting portfolio construction activities, maintaining strong governance and controls, and ensuring efficient execution of portfolio-management processes. The successful candidate will partner with portfolio managers, trading teams, product strategists, and operational stakeholders while helping to enhance workflows through data, automation, and technology-enabled solutions.

 

Your responsibilities

The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:

• Implement equity, derivative, and foreign exchange orders across a range of active investment strategies while partnering with global trading teams to support efficient execution.
• Manage cash-flow activity and cash allocations through derivative equitization, basket transactions, exchange-traded fund create/redeem activity, and single-stock transactions.
• Monitor portfolios and funds to support accurate implementation of investment strategies and maintain effective governance and control processes.
• Leverage financial-market knowledge, investment-platform applications, and technical capabilities to improve workflows and develop scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers, product strategists, trading teams, client businesses, and operational support partners on a daily basis to support investment objectives.

 

Your experience

• Demonstrated experience in a finance or technology-related role and relevant academic background in business, finance, computing, financial engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of global equity markets and interest in investment management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across a global team and credibly represent portfolio-manager perspectives.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ownership, initiative, and the ability to prioritize concurrent projects.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, and application programming interface (API) integration, alongside knowledge of data structures, databases, Structured Query Language (SQL), version control systems such as Azure DevOps (ADO) or GitHub, and efficient data-pipeline design.
• Familiarity with data-visualization reporting tools used to communicate insights from complex datasets.
• Interest in using artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to improve productivity, generate insights, and support scalable investment processes.

Our hybrid work model
