Data Business Analyst

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Data Business Analyst will join our Commercial Data & Analytics team and play a key role in developing data capabilities that enable deeper insight generation and support informed business decision-making.
Working closely with business subject matter experts, product team members, UX professionals, and data engineering teams, the Data Business Analyst will identify business and product needs and translate them into clear, actionable requirements. The role will support the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of data products and solutions developed using technologies such as AWS, Databricks, Airflow, Redshift, and S3.

- Collaborate with business subject matter experts and product team members to manage data analysis activities and ensure alignment with product and engineering objectives across the Commercial Data & Analytics team.
- Support Voice of the Customer assessments to understand user needs, define business processes, and identify product requirements.
- Gather, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring they are appropriately included and prioritized in Product and Release Backlogs.
- Facilitate the breakdown of Epics into Features and sprint-sized User Stories and participate in backlog refinement and review sessions with development teams.
- Write clear User Stories, requirements, and supporting documentation to ensure stakeholders and delivery teams understand the expected outcomes and how each feature contributes to the overall product.
- Define clear Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done requirements and help ensure their traceability to product objectives and key results.
- Work closely with UX professionals to align technical requirements, business scenarios, and process maps with user experience designs.
- Support PI Planning activities, product roadmap development, and the creation of user journeys.
- Prepare and deliver effective product demonstrations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate documentation of product configurations, processes, requirements, and changes.
- Develop an understanding of end-to-end data pipeline designs and data flows across the Commercial Data Lake.
- Use knowledge of data structures and data analytics to investigate and diagnose data issues for resolution by the data engineering team.
- Produce data models and product documentation in formats that can be effectively accessed and interpreted by AI models.
- Execute and monitor Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) jobs and support the investigation of performance or data-quality issues.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data products, delivery processes, and analytics capabilities.

Minimum requirements
- High School Diploma or GED and eight years of data analytics experience; or
- Associate’s Degree and six years of data analytics experience; or
- Bachelor’s Degree and two years of data analytics experience; or
- Master’s Degree.
- Experience gathering, documenting, and translating business or product needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements.
- Experience working with data and analytics concepts, systems, or products.
- Proficiency in English.
Preferred requirements
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to address complex data challenges.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies, particularly Scrum.
- Experience writing User Stories, requirements, and Acceptance Criteria in Jira using the INVEST framework.
- Experience managing product features for PI Planning and contributing to product roadmaps and user journeys.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data and analytics technologies and related technical concepts.
- Understanding of data and analytics software strategy, governance, infrastructure, and data-quality principles.
- Understanding of end-to-end data pipelines, data flows, data structures, and ETL processes.
- Experience with cloud-based data technologies such as Databricks, Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, AWS, or comparable platforms.
- Hands-on experience using Python and/or SQL for data analysis, investigation, validation, or troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Airflow or comparable data workflow orchestration technologies.
- Familiarity with low-code or no-code test automation tools.
- Knowledge of AI and machine learning frameworks, including Large Language Models, generative AI, or agentic AI frameworks.
- Experience working with product owners, business stakeholders, UX professionals, data engineers, and other technical teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and traceable product and technical documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional and multicultural teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and take accountability for delivery.
- A collaborative working style, an Agile mindset, and a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies.
