Morris Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization and an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International that brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Our organization serves populations in 68 municipalities spanning across Morris, Middlesex and parts of Union and Somerset Counties. 

The Cashier position is a part-time position. The main function is to provide friendly, efficient customer service while processing sales transaction accurately and quickly. 

This role is based out of Morris Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore in Randolph, New Jersey.  

Responsibilities & Duties: 

• Operate a cash register, POS systems, and payment terminals (cash, card, mobile payments, etc.)
• Count and balance registers at beginning of day and at closing; prepare deposits. 
• Keep up to date on methods of pricing, inventory, and procedures. 
• Greet customers, answer questions, and provide assistance as needed. 
• Answer telephone and provide store information and directions to callers. 
• Maintain orderly and clean front end and showroom areas. 
• Apply pricing stickers to merchandise following pricing procedures. 
• Follow all company policies on security, cash handling, and loss prevention

Requirements

Education and Experience: 

• High School Diploma or equivalent 
• Previous retail or cashier experience is a plus but not always required

Qualifications and Skills: 

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. 
• Basic math skills and comfort handling money 
• Ability to speak Spanish is a plus. 
• Dedicated to Morris Habitat for Humanity and willing to work closely with all staff. 
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25-50 pounds occasionally
• Availability for flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends
