About the Role
We are looking for a Compliance Manager to join the Ethics & Compliance (E&C) Supply, Trading & Shipping (ST&S) team, supporting the Refining & Products Trading Europe & Africa (RPTE&A) business.
In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining an effective compliance programme across designated trading activities, providing timely and practical advice on regulatory and compliance matters. You will work closely with traders, originators and business stakeholders to identify and handle compliance risks, while partnering with colleagues across the broader Ethics & Compliance function to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, assess and monitor ethics and compliance risks applicable to trading and origination activities.
- Monitor exchange trading activity to ensure compliance with exchange rules and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Provide advice and guidance on regulatory obligations, market conduct requirements, and company policies and procedures.
- Support the delivery of training on trading compliance requirements, including financial services and market abuse regulations.
- Monitor regulatory developments and support the planning and implementation of regulatory changes within the business.
- Complete risk-based compliance monitoring and surveillance activities, ensuring appropriate documentation, reporting and record keeping.
- Build strong relationships with business stakeholders and enabling functions, establishing Compliance as a trusted business partner.
- Collaborate with Ethics & Compliance colleagues to share knowledge and support the timely resolution of compliance matters and incidents.
- Provide compliance support and oversight for business projects and initiatives.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating compliance risks associated with new business activities and opportunities.
About You
You will have a relevant university degree or equivalent professional experience, together with a strong understanding of trading environments and regulatory compliance.
Essential Requirements
- Knowledge of traded products, markets and trading strategies across both physical and paper trading activities.
- Experience working with financial regulations, exchange rules, relevant legislation and regulatory bodies.
- Experience designing and conducting compliance monitoring and surveillance programmes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to demonstrate integrity, sound judgement and professional courage.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and advise at all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent report writing and drafting skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective training programmes.
- Validated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within oil products, refining, commodities or trading environments.
- Knowledge of energy trading businesses and associated regulatory frameworks.
