Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ability to identify anatomical landmarks for wet tissue
- Perform Tissue Trimming
- Record Gross tissue observations found at trim
- Document all study and laboratory activities as required for compliance
- Maintain study data files and specimens in an organized and confidential fashion
- Review study documentation for proper data recording and for compliance with SOPs.
- Operate and understand tissue processing equipment
- Performing preventative maintenance, monitoring, and calibration of laboratory equipment as assigned.
- Timely communication to area management (e.g., the Histology Operations Manager or Histology supervisor) regarding any protocol deviations or significant SOP deviations.
- Follow all company safety requirements
Skills and Abilities
Good organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work with the minimal supervision
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to communicate with management, co-workers and other teams
Education and Experience
College Diploma or equivalent science level courses, lab experience preferred
- Required experience must also reflect the Skills and Responsibilities outlined below
Physical Activity and Working Conditions
Work is normally performed in a typical interior office work or laboratory environment
- Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include use of protective equipment
- The noise level is usually moderate
- This position will frequently be involved with sharps, solvents, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, flammable materials and bio-hazards. Due to exposure to hazardous biological material (which may include HPB positive specimens), immunization to Hepatitis B and/or other diseases may be a requirement.
