Develops section/division policies and assists in developing city policies and ensuring compliance with divisional/departmental policies and providing direction for the division/ department activities.
Develops, administers, and evaluates work programs for the division.
Participates in short-term (1 year) and long-term (2 or more years) planning for projects within the division, department, or the city.
Plans and directs meetings for the section/division or the city.
Sets up task forces for special projects.
Administers programs and contracts funded by the City or other funding authorities.
Oversees the preparation of operational budgets for particular projects, departments, and the City.
Establishes scope of services and performance criteria for vendors and contractors.
Prepares or directs the preparation of reports, recommendations, and presenta¬tions to the department/division Director, City Manager, City Council, other City departments, and the general public.
Designs methodologies for research projects and implementation.
Directs the research and analysis of problems and recommends solutions.
Estimates City revenues and monitors receipts.
Works with computer personnel to define projects and explain desired outputs.
Attends workshops, meetings and conferences as a representative of the division/department or the City.
May serve as the acting director of the department/division.
A minimum of five years of responsible management-level professional work experience in a related area, with a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, or a related field is required. Two of the five years must be in a supervisory capacity. Two years may be substituted with educational or related experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Physical Conditions: Duties may require maintaining physical conditioning necessary for sitting and standing for prolonged time periods; light lifting and carrying; general manual dexterity required; must be able to operate assigned vehicle.
