Technical Projects Director – DC Hall Hot Aisle Containment Technical Lead

 

Job Description Summary

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DC Hall Hot Aisle Containment Technical Lead with a minimum of 15 years of experience in mechanical system design, technical review, and project delivery for mission-critical facilities. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership, design oversight, and engineering support to ensure the successful delivery of Data Center Hall Hot Aisle Containment (HAC) systems across complex newbuild and infrastructure projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual looking to excel in a regional role based in Singapore. You will act as the primary technical representative for Hot Aisle Containment systems, working collaboratively with Clients, Consultants, Contractors, Vendors, Quality Assurance, Commissioning, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to support the development and delivery of newbuild Data Centers and critical infrastructure projects across the APAC region.

Description:

  • Review and provide technical advice on Data Center Hall Hot Aisle Containment system designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, and development plans to ensure compliance with project requirements, client standards, and industry best practices.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and Client Representative for Hot Aisle Containment engineering matters, working closely with internal teams, client representatives, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and equipment vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Plan, develop, and standardize Hot Aisle Containment engineering packages, specifications, design guidelines, and technical standards to support consistent implementation across multiple projects.
  • Actively participate in the detailed design development of new Hot Aisle Containment systems, providing technical input, engineering guidance, and critical design reviews.
  • Review and comment on mechanical and electrical drawings, design documentation, and engineering deliverables using Google Workspace, BIM360, 3Dx, and other approved project collaboration platforms.
  • Assess technical content, design coordination, constructability, quality, and compliance of project deliverables, escalating critical issues that may impact project scope, cost, schedule, quality, or operational performance.
  • Ensure all designs comply with client Standards, Guidelines, Owner Project Requirements (OPRs), Design Narratives, specifications, and applicable engineering codes and standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering recommendations to support project decision-making and resolution of complex design, coordination, and construction challenges.
  • Perform technical reviews and assessments of Hot Aisle Containment systems throughout design, construction, commissioning, and operational phases.
  • Conduct QA/QC peer reviews of design documents using established quality processes, checklists, trackers, and project management tools to ensure consistency and technical accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities for system optimization, standardization, value engineering, energy efficiency improvements, constructability enhancements, and operational performance improvements.
  • Develop, document, and present recommendations for technology adoption, cost reduction initiatives, schedule improvements, operational enhancements, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including CSA, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Commissioning, Operations, EHS, Security, and Network teams to ensure alignment across all project interfaces.
  • Support design coordination meetings and provide continual input to optimize design solutions, reduce unnecessary work, and improve project outcomes.
  • Act as the key technical liaison between client teams, dedicated resources, consultants, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders for all Hot Aisle Containment engineering matters.
  • Coordinate with engineering partners, contractors, and vendors to ensure designs, equipment selections, and construction activities align with project objectives, quality standards, and client requirements.
  • Support defect identification, punch-list management, defect rectification, final inspections, and engineering closeout activities in collaboration with Quality Assurance and Commissioning teams.
  • Maintain comprehensive issue logs, risk registers, mitigation trackers, and technical action plans related to Hot Aisle Containment systems.
  • Report all issues, progress updates, technical concerns, project risks, and blocking items to the Technical Program Manager and Technical Lead to support effective project delivery.
  • Escalate critical design and construction issues affecting project scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety, or operational requirements and support timely resolution through coordination with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain records of design changes, technical queries, engineering decisions, and project issues while evaluating their impact on project cost, schedule, quality, and operational performance.
  • Ensure timely review, closure, acceptance, and documentation of project deliverables and outstanding technical actions.
  • Update owner standard documentation, including specifications, design guidelines, programming documents, standards, and technical requirements as design improvements are identified and implemented.
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of project documentation, including revision control, deliverable tracking, document management, and final project records upload into the AODocs cloud database system.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent professional accreditation preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering design, design management, and project delivery for data centers, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of data center cooling environments, airflow management strategies, containment systems, and mission-critical facility design principles.
  • Experience in the design, review, implementation, and optimization of Hot Aisle Containment systems and associated mechanical and electrical interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design coordination, constructability reviews, QA/QC processes, commissioning support, and operational readiness activities.
  • Proficiency in engineering and design collaboration platforms including Google Workspace, Revit, BIM360, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), 3Dx, and related project management systems.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing complex stakeholder relationships across clients, consultants, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of data center standards, Owner Project Requirements (OPRs), design narratives, specifications, and engineering governance processes.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance, commissioning processes, defect management, punch-list closeout, and final handover activities.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize activities, manage multiple deliverables, and support projects within schedule constraints.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical review capabilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, commissioning teams, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Familiarity with hyperscale data centers, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
